It's accurate to say Dollhouse was Dushku's series, but the concepts and story were, at most, a collaborative effort between the two. Whedon was the primary creative force there, though.

Wait, if he's the primary creative force, how is it Dushku's series? (Other than the fact that she's dressing up in dominatrix outfits and keeping me watching) :)

The story goes (roughly):

Dushku and Whedon go to lunch and talk about the good old days.

Dushku talks about Echo - the concept - Whedon figures out how to make Echo compelling.

It's kind of like she came up with He-Man and he provided Eternia.

That's the best summation of the story I can provide, but some of the 'Inside the Dollhouse' articles from before/early Dollhouse Season 1 should contain the actual story.

Yeah, and mostly, it worked. I liked the show. It just...lacked the spark and humor of other Whedon series. Buffy/Angel/Firefly could keep me in suspense AND keep me laughing at the same time. And there weren't many crowning moments of awesome for any of the cast members. In Buffy, just about everyone had at least one, hero and villain alike.

Dollhouse would be my least favorite. It lacked Whedon's typical comedic spark. I blame that on the fact that it's really Eliza Dushku's series, from the ground up. She just brought Whedon into it because she needed a producer with experience and credibility.

She was the worst character on the show or maybe I should say the worst actor. She was the weak link in her own show. That is what was wrong with Dollhouse.
