I love how one thought always leads to something more amusing.

Writing Assignment: If you were president of the U.S. what would you change about the country?

Student A: I would get rid of guns
Me: I think you may have a little difficulty with eliminating the 2nd amendment. Also, why would you?
Student A: They kill people
Me: Guns kill people? Who pulls the trigger?
A: Criminals
Me: So therefore criminals kill people, should it matter what weapon they choose?
A: No, so then why do we need guns?
Me. Well you would make my father upset because he is a hunter
Student B; What does he hunt?
Me. Deer, pheasants, and rabbits.
Student C: He kills a cute little deer?
Me: Are you a vegetarian?
C: No
Me: Do you Eat hamburgers?
C: yes
Me: So, how is that any different than killing and eating a cow?
C: Cows are ugly!!
Me:(Laughing) So we can only kill and eat the ugly animals?
C: Yes
Me: What about chickens?
C: Have you seen chickens? See what I mean we only kill and eat the ugly animals.

laughing and speechless.

Vincent: Want some bacon?
Jules: No man, I don't eat pork.
Vincent: Are you Jewish?
Jules: Nah, I ain't Jewish, I just don't dig on swine, that's all.
Vincent: Why not?
Jules: Pigs are filthy animals. I don't eat filthy animals.
Vincent: Bacon tastes gooood. Pork chops taste gooood.
Jules: Hey, sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I'd never know 'cause I wouldn't eat the filthy ****. Pigs sleep and root in ****. That's a filthy animal. I ain't eat nothin' that ain't got sense enough to disregard its own feces.
Vincent: How about a dog? Dogs eats its own feces.
Jules: I don't eat dog either.
Vincent: Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal?
Jules: I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.
Vincent: Ah, so by that rationale, if a pig had a better personality, he would cease to be a filthy animal. Is that true?
Jules: Well we'd have to be talkin' about one charming ****' pig. I mean he'd have to be ten times more charmin' than that Arnold on Green Acres, you know what I'm sayin'?

Same assignment.

The following is what I received today word for word.

"One thing I would change if I was president is that all men should wear their
pants up to their waistline, because it is very disrespectful the way they wear them below
their buttuck. It is also very disrespectful to other people to see the atrocious sight. In conclusion this
is what I would change if I was president of the United States.

Also, from another student
" I would make a holiday named after me."

Don't mean to bring up an old thread, but it should now be labeled from the "Phones of Babes"

I am so happy to find out today that one of my more "Blossomed" 6th grade girls is sexting people with nude pictures of herself.

Are you serious? Wasn't there an article awhile back about that...something about the teenager getting charged with transmission of child pornography because she was sending nude pictures of her underage self?
As a teacher, how the heck do you deal with something like that?
My hat's off to you, Oonagh, you have a TOUGH job!

You're a required reporter Oonagh, going to turn the girl in for felony child pornography?

Its funny, no matter how society tries to impose restrictions on the natural biological processes, the more innovative ways people come up with for bypassing them.

its a slippery slope too. Two nights ago I found out my 11 year old had taken a video camera to school (against my explicit instructions) and her and her friends were making videos (innocent ones) and, getting up in the middle of the night, logging into a computer and posting them to youtube.

We talked. Her camera, computer, and internet priveldges are on hiatus until such time as I deem her judgement to be better. Still mulling the punishment for disobedience. The rest is just a consequence of displaying extremely poor judgement.
