I took the kids camping over Memorial Day, in the mountains outside of Tehachapi, CA. It was a bit windy and cool the first night, but nothing major. It began to rain during the second night, and toward morning, I began to think, "Gee, that sounds more like hail than rain." Figured we'd have a few hailstones laying around, maybe a few flakes. Instead, we awoke to this:
My kids were pretty stoked. I was cool with it, except that we really weren't prepared for a second night in actual snow/freezing rain. I packed up the car (while it was still snowing), and headed home, but at least I can say I've been camping in the snow. On Memorial Day weekend, no less!
