We're all white here, and have no more than a cursory familiarity with R. Kelly. Does the aforementioned phrase require any additional explanation for you to understand what it refers to? Do you feel you need to do a Google search for R. Kelly to get the reference?

I need no further explanation, though I wouldn't assume that everyone would immediately know what it means.

It's simple. It's a phrase asking the hotel room service to be sure to place a mint on his bed. Specifically, to be sure to place it on his down feather pillow; or 'low as the slang term is used.

I assume it's a fairly wealthy man, as most hotels do not use imported goose down pillows.

In multi-story buildings it means security is supposed to only allow people to ride the descending escalator and then only on the bottom-most floor.

What? You can't enjoy a little racial insensitivity?

I have to admit, I used to harbor a secret wish that you were actually black. The irony involved in your posting and discussion history, and peoples' reactions to it, would have been delicious. This secret hope was shattered when we did the Webcam D&D session. I was dissapoint.

Corolinth is ribbing me for failing to grasp the exact thrust of his metaphor earlier.

I was voted into the black community by a caucus of my peers when I was in 8th grade. I am black by a democratic process, not a biological one.

That's a good story, and so timely for Black History Month.

If MLK Jr.'s birthday is in January, why wait until February for Black History Month? Because 31 days is too many to give the black man!

I associate R Kelly more with the Chappelle "Piss on you"

According to my students, "You are a lot like Mrs. Benson Mrs. C, just white."

Mrs. Benson is the Big Momma teacher. She loves bing called that, so that is how the staff refers to her sometimes.

R. Kelley cranks up the bass, but turns down the volume.

It requires no additional explanation to understand that it means keeping something quiet. Its specificly sexual aspects, not so much.
