I realize few of us read the Sports sub-forum on a regular basis (I sure don't), and many probably overlook my
Roller Derby thread there...
But there's roughly a 33% chance that you could spot the back of my head live on ESPN2 this November the 5th. See, I'll be officiating the WFTDA International Championships, hosted in Philadelphia, that weekend, and the championship game will be broadcast on ESPN2 instead of relegated to the streaming-only ESPN3 this year. I'll be on one of three crews, and won't know who's working which Sunday games 'till Saturday night, hence the one-third chance. There's a 100% chance that you can see four or five of my friends, regardless of which crew draws the championship game, though.
This (my first time at Champs), along with the playoff I worked in Sweden last month, are pretty big milestones I've been working towards for three years, now, and it coincides with the best opportunity the sport has had to reach mainstream audiences to date, so I'm pretty excited and wanted to share.
