The last couple of years have been a hell of a ride, but finally coming out is one of the best events from them.

See I don't get this. How do you not know to what you are attracted?

If it is inherent in the biological construct then it shouldn't be a mystery at any point. It certainly wasn't in my case and I believe others when they say it wasn't in theirs.

Knowing and accepting are two very different things. Especially when you’ve been bullied all your life to believe you’re an abomination.

I’ve known since I was a kid. I’ve acknowledged and shared that fact with others only recently.

We’re still happily married, with no plans on that changing anytime soon. She actually came out to me (panromantic asexual) long before I came out to her. We came out to our respective parents over the past year. Everyone’s been happy for us, minus her mother (who, when I came out publicly before she did, told her that she was certain that I had cheated on her and had already given her AIDS, and she needed to leave me. Literally none of that is even close to true, but her mother’s always been a gigantic *****, and not even the fun campy kind). My parents in particular have been 100% supportive for both of us. And we’re both happier and more whole than we’ve been in a long, long time.

Life doesn’t turn out exactly how you imagine, but, to borrow a quote from Doctor Who:

“When you’re a kid, they tell you it’s all…grow up, get a job, get married, get a house, have a kid, and that’s it. But the truth is, the world is so much stranger than that. It’s so much darker. And so much madder. And so much better.”
