Awesome, thanks! I'm a bassist myself, and an engineer. I've loved the strong correlation between music & math, and the string movements show the sinusoidal pattern of the notes.

If you measured the node distances vs. string length & diameter, you could calculate the note produced without hearing it.

While I'm not so thrilled about the math stuff (not my strong suit), I have been reading about chladni patterns as they apply to (tone) plates.
