Also, there are plenty of books out there on poker. Doyle Brunson's Super System is good for a quick read. I'm sure other people have some good ones as well. Honestly, as shuyung puts it, the best way to learn poker is to just play. Better to play free games online with anonymous players rather than get the goat of someone in a casino using real money.

I would say learn the hands and learn what respecting the bet is. So many poker players, who aren't good, don't know how to respect the bet.
