Why? That's what the home key is for.


Conformity with Linux and OSX. It's also easier to hit control+A than the home button, especially since the home button varies on different keyboards.

I don't even know what he's talking about. Control-A in OSX does nothing, and Command-A selects all, just like Windows. Beginning of a line in OSX is Command+Left.

Control+A goes to the beginning of a line in OSX on my Macbook Air. Command+A selects all.

Hrm, it does for me in a browser but not in my coding application. Wonder why. I prefer cmd+left/right anyway.

It does it for me in Chrome and Safari, in the Mail client, TextEdit, and Terminal.

Just fixed a second bug for work. My project manager should be pretty happy. She gave me a list of three to do, I'm trying to have them all done by this weekend. I think the expectation was that I'd work on them next week. I'm trying to get into the top 15% again for next year... that 10k bonus was really nice.

If you mentioned "sounding like a broken record" to kids today, would they understand what you're talking about? Yeah, records have been gone for a while, but on the other hand, information is much more freely available now. By 'kid', I mean under 18.

Yes but that's why I like it for select all :)


I'm not a programmer so I don't often need to go all the way to the beginning of a line as I would if I was writing code all day.


Plus...ctrl + a is right next to x c and v. It works great.

Ctrl+← and Ctrl+→ are used to skip words.
