How can you go to sleep and be ok and wake up with a crazy sore throat and coughing and have no voice :(.

I sound like a teenage boy going through puberty. /sigh of course, I have 2 days off...

I wish I had ice cream

Sorry you're sick, Kirra. Sounds exactly like what I woke up with 10 days ago. I'm still not completely over it :(

Bad Müs, you forgot to close your braces :P

I knew what was coming. The tragedy and deliciously bitter irony of it all was too much for him not to pull the trigger on this one.

None of this stopped me from sobbing like an 8 year old girl when the time came.

Not to mention the rest of the bloodbath and surprises.

Sorry Joss,
David Weber is my master now.

I'm sorry, but it's impossible to take anything you say seriously when I see that your last name is Moist.

Hey, book publishers: when I buy your new hardcover book, just charge me an extra $2 and give me an ebook download code for the vendor of my choice. Everyone wins.

I would gladly and publicly to carnal relations with a woman of ill repute for a bag of Spicy Sweet Chili Doritos.

Does this have anything to do with Honor Harrington?

In Scotland they call soda 'juice' or 'fizzy juice'. Buncha people don't know how to talk right.

When Baen releases a new hardcover in an established series they include a CD with not only the new book, but also the entire rest of the series, since they figure you've already bought them. They also maintain a free site with many of their most popular titles. Awesome idea? Buy Baen books, and other publishers may follow suit.

Yeah, it's not like they have the only living science fiction author who is tied for awards with Heinlein, or anything. Or like they have a number of hugely popular series. Obviously if you're not into recent science fiction or fantasy it's not the publisher for you, but a lot of us here on the Glade ARE into those genres. So clearly you're just looking for one more damn thing to be condescending about.

One should not confuse "good" with "enjoyable" ...

One should also not assume that the two are incompatible. And for many people the purpose of reading is enjoyment, not impressing you.

Reading to impress me would be very boring indeed ...

In fact, I doubt I would read to impress myself. That said, I didn't assume they were incompatible, as I've read at least one book by most of the authors in Baen's stable. Some of them were fun; some of them were halfway decent narratives; can't really say that any of them were good books ...

Spine creases too readily.

Pages were either too rough or too thin.

Some of the typesetting was so abysmal I wanted to blow things up ...

Good books don't have those problems.

Penguin generally doesn't publish good books either.

Neither does Del Rey.

In fact, "good books" are getting hard to come by ...

They just don't last anymore :(

I'll agree on the typesetting... and I hate the soy ink that smudges. E-books don't have this problem.
