Just take a point called Z in the complex plane. Let Z1 = Z^2 + C, and Z2 = Z1^2 + C, and Z3 = Z2^2 + C, and so on. If the series of Zs always stay close to Z and never trend away, that point is in the Mandelbrot Set.

Oh, and by the way, if any of you are mathematicians and you're just waiting anxiously to come up to me afterwards and point out the fact that the equation is not quite right; that I actually described a Julia set and not a Mandelbrot set ... I already know that ****, so you don't have to come up to me.

In 1999, a lot of people wondered what we would call the '00s and '10s. 14 years later, and I still have no **** idea.

Edit: Moving to rants. Probably better suited there.

Uh...... I have seen you on edge of dawn. Felt you here before you were born. Balanced your dreams upon the edge of thorns. But I don't think about you anymore.

If it works, don't change or fix it. Must be something about sheep grease that works better than anything else. There is plenty of it made as a byproduct of sheep harvesting every year.

No inventor has had sufficient motivation to improve on the product. This is surprising given that a lot of sailors are very inventive, they really need to be.

'N Sync performing at the VMAs, Stephen King adaptations all the rage on TV, and Chris Carter has a couple of new pilots with vaguely-defined concepts on the way. Did it suddenly become 1997 and everyone just forgot to tell me?

It shouldn't be so, but I'm really dreading tomorrow. I need to stop stressing myself to death and just come to grips with the fact that there are only so many hours between 0800 and 1800

They've moved on to controlling people. One scientist moved another's finger.

Random thought: They may have finally found a loophole in the old rule "You can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friend's nose."
