If so, I'm afraid that's a miss. You're thinking of telnet, per the OP. As far as that goes, telnet was never anything specific to IBM. Actually to be more accurate, what you're
really thinking of was probably
IBM 5250. The IBM 5250 transport was a bastardized version of telnet which was indeed proprietary to IBM.
