Wait... wha?

Kaffis, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Know that my thoughts go out to you.

I wish I had known her better. I had the very distinct impression for the past several years that she didn't care for me much, so I never had many conversations that involved her. But I know that the Glade (the board and the people) will feel her loss.

Just remember that all of us here care about you and we're always here for you.

Just to clear things up a bit -- she didn't dislike you, she just disagreed a lot with you on matters of taste.

Thank you for your condolences.

Ah, ****. Started crying again.

I keep trying to process this, to turn it over in my head, to find words of comfort or even understanding and none of it does a damn bit of good. It's just a jumble, a raw mass of pain and anger and confusion and sorrow and worry and regret. It makes my heart ache every time my thoughts turn to you and Amdee, and I can't even imagine how much that pain is magnified for you.

My hope is strength for you, Kaffis, and Amdee's family. For some semblance of understanding of something that has no justifiable reason. For some measure of peace, or comfort, or anything.

To use Amdee's own, "words seem so weak." I can think of only a few that have any manner of importance right now.

"We accept you, one of us."

Always.

Oh my god.....

I haven't talked with her in quite a while, but she was a dear friend.

I'm so, so sorry, Kaffis.

I'm going to go cry now.

I remember when my little brother died, one of the most poignant things I experienced was being around friends who understood the in-jokes, knew all the stories already… I guess we keep on hearing the echoes of loved ones we've lost, through the people around us whose lives they touched. I hope there are plenty of those friends and those moments for you Kaffis, and that they're all good - that in time the moments aren't so raw, and that they help you celebrate her and the time you all had together.

See ya 'Dee...

Wow... this is not something I was expecting to see after not reading the boards since last week. My brain can't even register this right now.

My thoughts are with you Kaff. How did this happen? PM me when you get a chance.

I hadn't talked with her in a couple of months on GoogleTalk because of my work schedule, but I'm going to miss giving her bass playing pointers over IM. She was very enthusiastic about learning to play it.

I hope your'e rockin' out wherever you are right now, Dee...

Not that we knew each other in much fashion at all......but I had once mentioned my love for Social D in a thread that Dee picked up on (and I believe she approved)......so with that, I leave this for you, Dee.

Turn it up and tear off the knob. (a 4 letter word is used, so use cautiously fellow gladers!)

Thanks again, everybody who expressed condolences, sympathy, sorrow, and offers of various assistance. It's all very appreciated. I wanted to take a few minutes to respond to a few of the more specific things that I'd let slide because it's still tough to talk about.

The tests still haven't come back officially, but unofficially, heart attack, probably early morning on the 1st.

It was very mutual.

With any luck she's jamming with the Ramones right now.

It would actually be jamming with the Ramones *again* right now, sort of. Back in the mid-90's, Amdee and the local band she sang for on and off played a song or two before the opening set at the Roxy. She got to meet her heroes (well, minus Dee Dee -- this was CJ era touring) backstage before the concert.

You're not alone. I was hitting the random comic button on xkcd and just lost it the other day.

Wow. Thank you, and so true. (See above) There definitely are.

Adrak wrote:
She caught my imagination and will be sorely missed.

Indubitably. The products of her creativity, her imagination, her quirky associations.. they captivated me on a regular basis. I used to tell her that naming things was her superpower, but that was really only the tip of the iceberg. I really hope her mother will let me look for some of her poetry and short stories; I'd like to share a few with you all, her friends.

Rynar wrote:
I ... only spoke with her sparingly, but every time I did she always made me smile.

She loved to make people smile and laugh. She knew that people around here loved her lists, and used to spend days thinking them up, adding entries, and making sure everything was perfect. And then she'd feel mortified when somebody'd post "aww, I didn't make the list" and come up with an entry to edit back in even though she hated leaving edit marks..

She loved practicing, and appreciated all the advice and help. And as hard as it is for me to say it yet, nothing as trivial as Death could stop her from rocking out. It's who she was, to the core. (How else can you explain considering The Ramones music to listen to to calm down and mellow out?)

That's because the dingoes took it!

She did. And from me, thank you. That's not a song I'd heard before, but damn it hits close to home in so many ways. Amdee had a Ramones lyric for every occasion, and I don't know what she'd have pulled out on this one (Though, Khross, you might be close); but as far as I'm concerned, that SxDx song nails it.

Oh, no :|. I never asked because I was afraid this might be the answer.

It's not as though a car crash or random act of violence would really have been any less senseless, I guess. But, well .... All I can say is that you have my condolences again for what must be a whole other layer of tragedy to all this.

Kaffis, thank you for being yourself, and in being yourself being strong enough to allow, and furthermore to provide assistance with, our own grieving. Pale as it might compare.

You are a rare man, sir.

I can't believe I didn't see this sooner. I've only been in the gaming forum the past few weeks.

I'm so sorry. I think everyone has already covered about every possible way to give sympathy. The same thoughts, wishes, and prayers are coming from this direction.

I wasn't going to comment in this thread because I didn't really know her at all. But all I'll say is my condolences to you Kaffis. I wish you, your family, and her family the best through these difficult times.
