That would be hilarious. If Canada doesn't buy it, I say we burn it to the ground. |

Anyway, I wonder if this will be the first of the many future bankruptcies facing large cities across the country to actually move forward. |

I actually forget how Detroit was returned to American control, but at the end of the war of 1812, before the treaty was signed, Britain still held almost all of the territory of Canada, and had expanded their control into many US states, including the majority of the State of Michigan. The treaty restored the borders to what they were before the US invaded. |

So, what does this actually mean for Detroit if it goes through? What are the penalties of an entire city filing for bankruptcy? Are they going to become a debt-free utopia for rappers and Chrysler 300's, or is it going to be more of the same? |

The only alternative is that they will have to meet a budget, either by sell assets, and so forth, or basically cease city services. |

Dumbass. Time for the remaining 700,000 to flee the city. There is no money. |

Taly there is nowhere for those people to go. Cross 8 mile road and the cost of a house goes up. Most of the folks living there can't afford to live anywhere else or they would have left already. |

well, now that the bankruptcy is blocked, it's time to lay off all the remaining city employees, and for the city council to take off for somewhere else and let it burn. |

Probably can't lay them off due to a union contract or something. I also really like how this is being blatantly miscast as "capitalism's fault" by many in the media. |
