Interesting, probably not totally scientific test to grade how well you perceive color.

http://www.xrite.com/online-color-test-challenge

I got an 8. Scores closer to 0 are better.

I scored a 4, my problem area was in-between blue/green hues.

I got a 22. The yellow/green and green/blue messed me over a bit.

That and my eyes were getting crossed from staring at things.

What is a hue order?

Well, a hue is a shade of a color, and order. Yeah.

Think of it as organizing paint chips.

I wonder how much of an impact proper screen calibration has on this test.

The two colors on either end are fixed. Match each color closest to them and so on, working toward the center. You should have a smooth gradation of color before moving on to the next bar.

Not a typo, I scored a 283.

I scored 16. Surprisingly (or not?) I had more trouble with the colors close to the edges than those in the middle.

I wondered this as well. I'm on a decent Lenovo 1920x1080 LCD laptop panel, but the room lighting and other factors will apply too.

Ugh. 45. I am awful at the middle of the red/green row, and a couple of the blue/purple ones tripped me up, too.

Probably quite a bit. I wonder if I'd score better if I was doing it later in the day when I was more awake.

I think we can all agree that the obvious takeaway of this thread is that I'm a superhuman.

I scored a 6. The green/blue one was where I messed up, apparently.

16, but I have some of the oldest monitors at my work and that was starting to give me a headache.

43. I was tested for colorblindness when I was about 8 or 10, I think, and they found that I am one of those "1 in 12" males who have some colorblindness. Not completely - I can tell things apart, but some of those red-green number dot things? Yeah, those are just a bunch of dots, don't see any numbers. I did OK on this because they didn't really mix red and green, but what's interesting is that I had the most trouble ith the purple-green one, so I guess that makes sense.

I just legitimately scored a 0 (perfect). What does that make me? :P

I'm not terribly surprised, actually. I had this done back when I was a senior in high school. I found I that I have exceptionally good color perception (especially for a guy), but absolutely abysmal manual dexterity.

How about the National Association for the Advancement of Color Perception?

If only my actual vision were as good as my color acuity.

I think if I had my glasses I would have scored a 0. Too bad I lost them two years ago and never got a new pair :/

I actually found most of my errors with my glasses off- but then, I'm nearsighted, so...

Yeah, I'm blind as a bat too. But I'll be damned if I can't tell the difference between eggshell and ecru!

Lenas wrote:

That was definitely the hardest row for me, too. It makes sense. Human vision is pretty skewed. Due to the substantial overlap in frequency response for our red and green receptors, we trichromats perceive a lot more color variation on the low (red) end of the spectrum than on the high (blue) end.

Lenas wrote:

Potentially quite a bit if your red, green, and blue gamma curves aren't precisely the same.

I scored a 3. I suspect that monitor quality has a large deal to do with how well Lenas and I scored. My monitors are properly calibrated H-IPS monitors (22" 1920x1080). My problem was in the low-end reds. Also, I suspect Lenas also worked right to left, like I did. Working left to right is a bad idea for that test.

I retook the test and got a 0 when using a better monitor than the aforementioned 22" H-IPS. I used my Sony Trinitron 22" Widescreen CRT (Aperture Grille) the second time.
