I'm getting it. Figure I'll renew my passport and head to somewhere else next spring or summer, just for a few weeks. It started me wondering where the likes of all of you will go when it hits you. Where do you want to go see, put feet on the ground and spend some time. So, tell the lot of us where you would wander to, please. |

Up and down US1, generally. On our last anniversary, we hopped on US1 and just drove north until we ran out of time (and trunk space for antiques). Over the years we've visited parks, saw the last shuttle night launch, hung out with dolphins, and spent time in the oldest city in the U.S, all within a few miles of good ol' U.S. highway 1. Also a fan of: US301 I-75 I-65 I-81 Blue Ridge Parkway Skyline Drive A1A I-95 can bite me though. |

I'd like to get a cheap Jeep, fill it with camping gear, and see how far south, or northwest, I can get before I run out of time or the wheels fall off. |

I love history. Specifically pre-20th century history. So my ideal places to see would be places that played major roles in it. Although I am not sure my wife is keen on several of the places I'd pick. For example: London. Sure it's a craphole now where you are likely to get mugged, but to me the idea of just being such a historical city that's been around for millenia is enough for me. For me it's not necessarily about what it is now, it's about what it was. But that one is an extremely hard sell. |

You could stop by Crater Lake Then visit rainy Seattle ![]() You could then take a cruise up the Inside Passage and visit some of Alaska If you passport is up to date, you could take a day/weekend trip over to Victoria ![]() And/or drive up Interstate 5 and visit our northern friends in Vancouver BC ![]() Note that I left out Portland... No one wants to go to Portland... ![]() |

I'd like to visit Alaska at some point. But the only place outside of this country I would like to visit is Ireland. And even then, I'm not really sold on it. Just too much hassle travelling outside the country. |

Midgen's suggested itinerary would be my idea of a perfect roadtrip. Only change I would make, would be to continue on north from Vancouver until I reach Courtney. I have a friend that lives there, who has promised to take me out on his boat for some salmon fishing if I ever get up that way. ![]() |

I guess I missed my calling (as a Travel Agent!). I personally rarely long to see places I've never been. But I got a lot of that out of my system when I was on active duty. There are a few places I've been that I'd like to go back and see again (Alaska in Summer and Alaska in Winter being two of them), but that urge rarely overpowers my disdain for all things travel related (being a tourist/staying in hotels/ flying on airlines, driving rental cars, etc...). |

Hey, don't you be bringing any sucky weather with you! We've had a spectacular Summer so far. We had two days in June where it was 90+, everything else has been high's in the 70's and 80's with no measurable rain. We had some relatively high humidity and a few thunderstorms last week, but nothing intolerable, and it's much better now. |

While I am reasonably healthy and mobile, I am sailing. Currently taking regular cruises up and down the Gulf Coast with the local cruising association. My boat should be ready for long cruises within a year. If the home front is ok I planned the following trip for the first year: Starting the Texas gulf coast ![]() Bay Saint Louis ![]() Destin (white powder sand!) ![]() Clearwater ![]() Key West The Bahamas Jekyll Island ![]() Wilmington ![]() Second year will be more adventurous. Plan to island hop down the Caribbean. |

That can be pretty dangerous. There's still "pirates" in the Caribbean in some places that prey on small boats. Make sure you check with the Coast Guard on where is safe before you go. |

Amusingly, the first song on the play list this morning is "The Sloop John B." - Beach Boys version. |

Typically when wanderlust strikes me, I hop on the motorcycle and pick a cardinal direction. |

I want to go to the hockey hall of fame in Toronto. Other than that, I have no desire to see much beyond my back yard. |
