I wonder if you can eat this stuff like whipped cream straight from the can.

I really don't understand this. Pancake batter is preposterously easy to make. And though I don't keep buttermilk on hand to do it from scratch, the powdered mixes are still quite convenient and delicious.

That doesn't sound appealing at all.. I mean it's not like it's cookie dough or something.

Not as easy as whipped cream, yet that's been in cans for decades!

Whipped cream is more labor intensive, though, no? I can't say I've ever made it before.

Both of those (whipped cream and pancakes) require dirtying bowls, spoons, mixers, etc... which all require cleanup.

The canned stuff (obviously marketed towards the microwave mac and cheese crowd) saves a lot of hassle for those with instant gratification with little investment in mind.

*heads off to add batter blaster to his shopping list, right under microwave mac and cheese and corn dogs

Just a heads up - it ain't all that great. Maybe I'm just a pancake snob - I make a pretty mean pancake, honestly - but I have found it really hard to make these come out well. It's not the taste so much, as the texture. I picked them up so I could offer the kids pancakes for breakfast on school mornings when pressed for time. I have found frozen waffles to be a much better alternative.

IHOP was nice. Had their holiday Pecan Pancakes with my lunch.

If I'm going to the bother of making pancakes, I can clean up the mixing bowl, griddle and spatula.

That's my thinking.
