Did you wear a costume to work? If so, as what? Pictures would be great.

This year I did not. Few did here, it's a low morale year. We have a couple witches wandering around.

I didn't this year, but that's just because the lynchpin in our department's planned group costume ended up out with a respiratory infection this week.

We had a fantastic Man in the Yellow Hat, though, along with a solid Rosie the Riveter and a great Despicable Me Minion.

Nope, but tonight the kids are coming over with their costumes. We're gonna order pizza and turn on the scariest thing we can find on TV (The Dolphins trying to break their losing streak)

This is probably the first halloween in a long time I haven't dressed up. But that's ok. I've got a lot of other stuff on my plate.

But I am going to hand out good candy. And I did at least carve pumpkins this year.

I took the day off. Phe went to work dressed as a Hogwarts student, though.

Actual conversation tonight overheard as door was being closed and kid was running back towards the sidewalk:

"Look what I got, mom!"
"Remember? All chocolate is mommy's"

Did you go out there and confiscate the chocolate so you could tell the mother what a horrible person she was? And then slip the kid some smarties or laffy taffy or something...

I ran out of candy this year, go figure. Last year and the year before we ended up with too much candy. Had a good laugh thanks to my neighbor. A group of little girls about 6 or so left my house and went next door. I heard them screaming and someone saying "It's not real". I looked out to see my neighbor dressed as a werewolf and one little girl standing there not sure if she should run or not. I couldn't help but laugh, it was so funny. I had other kids coming to the door so don't know if the little girls got candy next door or not, but they got full size candy bars from me this year! :D

Happy Halloween everyone!

Edit: Just realized, this is the 32nd anniversary of my meeting my hubby. We met at a Halloween party that neither of us were going to attend because we didn't have costumes. My friend told me to wear one of my dance costumes (we were taking the same dance class at the time) and his friend gave him a cowboy hat and chaps to wear. The tap dancer and the cowboy met in the kitchen and history was made! :D

Unfortunately all my candy is chocolate (the real stuff, not "chocolate flavored"). Milk Duds, Reese's Pieces, Reese's Peanut Butter Pumpkins, Hershey Chocolate bar, Hershey Cookie's 'n' Cream bar (white chocolate, one 5 year old got REALLY excited over this one), and whoppers.

I made sure to have the good stuff this year. Any mother out there who steals their kids candy needs to... I don't know how to finish that sentence. Let's just say that whatever it is they do not want to happen, should. Like finding "revenge porn" pics of themselves online, being passed around their work and church... or something.

Edit: I realize now that I had it fantastically good as a trick or treater where I grew up. I grew up on an air force base. This meant two things: 1. Most people I visited were fairly young, so they were really into halloween (tons of haunted mazes in their driveway and such) and 2. Every house I visited was either a duplex or a quadplex. So the candy to area ratio was very high. I had multiple pillowcases rip on me over those years.

I also realize that some parents these days don't let their kids trick or treat as much anymore, which is also sad. This "trunk or treat" thing makes me very sad. Parents: There is actually less crime today than there was when you're a kid. Being plugged into a world wide network of news (that gets paid by sensationalizing and focusing on the bad) does not mean you need to be as overprotective as you are. Quit being wusses and let your kids out from under your apron strings.

It was raining really hard here so I only got through 3/4 of the candy I had bought. Still fun times :)

Well, although there was more screaming in the house than a horror movie, and we had to look away a few times, the Fins pulled it off last night in OT. On to the real football (Monday Night!)

Here's our gang:
