So my department is looking for a technology that would allow for drawing on a surface and allowing multiple remote people/groups to be able to take control/author the current view/document. Do any of you use any such technology? My boss is accustomed to drawing on white boards and wants to utilize SmartBoard to make it available to remote staff. My issue with that is I don't believe it will be as collaborative as we need it to be.

I put forth the idea of using Office 365 and OneNote along with the possibility of drawing on a tablet when the need arises.

Do any of you use these kinds of technologies? Have their been any advantages and disadvantages to the solutions you chose? If money weren't an object, is there a solution you would use over what you have?

(Posted here because some people might not dip into the Tech forum but still work in a place that uses these.)

Thanks much.

One of my previous employers had a physical whiteboard that would synch up to a PC and was remotely sharable. I don't remember the brand, but it was awful and eventually it was just used as a regular whiteboard.

Adobe Connect has a built-in whiteboard feature that I always liked, but it's nothing fancy.

I think you're probably best off using whiteboard features built into teleconferencing suites like Webex or Google Hangouts or whatnot, and then using a smartboard or tablet for your boss's end to control the cursor. That's probably less clunky (and more interactive from multiple sources on the collaborative side) than trying to use a smartboard's integrated software to just draw on his screen and share it via teleconferencing tools.

Check into the Promethian stuff - mebbe that with Lync or WebEx or something like that could work.
