To all our Glader mothers out there, happy your day! This will be my second mother's day for my wife after having our daughter, but it's really more my first. I kinda botched the first one. I was too frazzled with it being so close to our daughter's birth and didn't put enough thought into it. I had to really go all out this time. Not only did I go bonkers on gifts, I needed to come up with the "thoughtful/sentimental" one as well. I figured daughter footprint/handprint along with a poem would be just "ok." It then dawned on me that I could channel my song-parodying Ogre and get him to flex his rhyming and cadence muscles once more. That would be far better than some canned poem I found. Here's what I came up with. Mama, I love you because you’re a geek A culture you gave me before I could speak I love you so much because you are kind I love you when rock me to help me unwind I love you because you never get mad I love you, even when I’m laughing at dad I love you when you make me try new things I love my new Toothless without any wings I love you when I’m fussy and beginning to pout I love you when you’re frustrated and wanting to shout I love you when you comfort me in the middle of night I love you when you walk me while I hold your fingers tight I love you, the bestest mom that ever could be But mostly I love you because I know you love me |

I've been a mother for over 12 years now. When I think of Mother's Day, I think of what I'm going to get for my mother. I forget that the day is for me, too, until someone reminds me with a gift/card. |
