"DeepDream is a computer vision program created by Google which uses a convolutional neural network to find and enhance patterns in images via algorithmic pareidolia, thus creating a dreamlike hallucinogenic appearance in the deliberately over-processed images." Here's a website that uses the algorithm: http://deepdreamgenerator.com/ |

**** that no spoiler that these things creep me out. |

I think this is the type of thing that cats see when they sit and stare at nothing that we can see. Either that, or it's an attempt to convince us that acid's really not all that bad. Edit: I can't stop making them on that site. They're very trippy. These are all different images that I have in a Desktops folder. Most are my own images. I came here to post one, and then got sucked into it and made ten more. I can't stop. I put them on Flickr, if you're interested: Deep Dreamed Visions Oops! Should I have spoilered that, 'Skee?! |

Aethien wrote: Edit: I can't stop making them on that site. Same here, man. Some people at work love this, and some completely can't handle even looking at one image. Frankly, I'm fascinated. Problem is, someday someone's going to weaponize an AI... hopefully it doesn't incorporate this into a targeting algorithm. (Inanimate objects are living creatures, humans are horrible monsters, etc...) Aethien wrote: Wow, some really great and disturbing ones there. Love the sunbeast. |

Holy cow, those are fantastic, Vlad. Did you Deep Dream the food, and then photoshop it back in to the dishes so that the backgrounds remained un-processed? Ah, OK, I followed the link, looks like someone in Australia did those. They're great. I really like the Cthulu Lo Mein. |

No, didn't do those, but I did the same kind of process on one my wife sent me earlier today. DeepDream, then merge the background back over the original. Spoiler: Original pic is our youngest grandson, at Sea World. The background had no distinguishable creatures (fish or otherwise) but DeepDream created him a few new friends. |

Love it! I have a couple of pics from an aquarium that I'm gonna try, too. It's great when it starts creating images out of seemingly nothing. I need a way to monetize this. I just killed two hours after discovering the "Rare Deep Dream" option. I've only made it two levels up so far - if you hit six, you get a "Rare Deep Dream" title. But the problem is that each one takes quite a while, and the site gets overwhelmed, so it's a long process. You kind of have to choose the right picture to begin with, I think. Edit: So, six hours later, this is the result. I'm not sure if it was worth the effort. (And, what's funny is that I thought it stopped after six levels, but you can bang right through and keep doing it. I have other pics to process.) The original was a black and white photo from 1909 of the Singer Building and couple of others in New York City, 1909. You can find it on the Wiki page for the singer Building. |

That's neat, Mus. There's a lot in there. Is that a picture you took? |

Haha, yeah, you can say that about a lot of places around the Salton Sea. Did you hit up the artist's colony near Salvation Mountain (which itself is kind of weird)? Had to think for a sec, but it's in Slab City. To keep us on track, here's a couple more I made recently: And, the galactic core, as imaged by Hubble and Deeply Dreamed: (Edit: Huh, that last one is much smaller than I think it should be. For some reason, this version didn't get saved to my gallery on the site, only on my machine. Not sure why that happens sometimes.) (Oh, and how many times did you run it through, Mus?) (I wish I knew what the different styles - Default, Spirits, Neuron, and Valyrian - do. So far, I think I like Default the best, because it seems to give you the most hallucinatory animal figures.) OK, one more. I really like the way this one is turning out: (Told you I can't stop!) |

Someone at work found this one. Best caption we came up with so far is "Governor Rick Scott assuming his ultimate form". Definitely spoilered for horrificality. Spoiler: |

We didn't get a chance to get through to Slab City unfortunately. That whole area is dying though. Its kind of sad. I ran that through 3 or 4 times. |

Upgraded to a rare DeepDream. Don't know where it came up with that apedog in the lower left corner; that's a new one. (And long-eared chihuahua riding on the lizard-bird.) Attachment: upload.jpg [ 239.65 KiB | Viewed 5278 times ] |

I like it better when they curate the neural networks a bit and then prime them with an image and a painting. http://www.boredpanda.com/inceptionism- ... dream-art/ |
