(NO, this isn't spam, and no one hacked my account. I just thought I'd share ) In this day and age of getting nickel and dimed to death by taxes and fees, I'm getting *checks* in the mail from USAA. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USAA USAA Wiki Page wrote: Returning profits to the insured
Since there are no shareholders, profits are retained for financial strength or returned to the members. Returns are accomplished through a Subscriber's Savings Account, or SSA. Each year a portion of USAA's profit is retained as "unassigned," the rest is allocated to each member's SSA using a formula based on the amount of premium the member paid that year as well as the member's SSA balance. The allocation of capital to a member's SSA account occurs early in the calendar year. Late in the calendar year a portion of the member's SSA is distributed to the member via checks or electronic funds transfer. Members with more than 40 years of membership also receive a special yearly "senior bonus" distribution which amounts to 10% of the member's SSA balance. The entirety of the SSA belongs to the member, but is only completely distributed until approximately 6 months after the member no longer has a USAA P&C policy.[24] In 2007 the distribution amounted to 4% of the member's SSA balance. Associate members sometimes receive policy dividends instead of distributions of profits, since they are not members of the insurance exchange. |

So wish I could get in there. My father was in the Navy, but he's not a member and I have absolutely no contact with him. |

SO much love for USAA. My father does an electronic funds transfer of my gift money and I get it instantly. He did the same thing when I needed a loan, and I returned the funds right back to his account. Debit card purchases show up immediately, and I don't have to leave my house to deposit checks, I just scan them and file them. The only possible downside is that there's no way to get cash into the account short of having someone write me a check for it. My auto insurance drafts every month, unless the account is too low, then they call me and ask what to do. My savings overdrafts to cover accidental overspending with no fees. Trandfers are instant, and so are credit increases on my credit card. It's all tied together for ease of use. I once had Geico call me and offer me a free rate quote. I told them I have USAA and they said "Ah. Nevermind, thank you!" |

Wow, I guess I'm not the only one. The cash deposit thing can be a problem, but I don't worry too much about it unless it's more than I'm willing to carry. The scan deposits are pretty cool, and now the even have a mobile version where you can take a picture of a check with your camera phone and deposit it that way. Also, I can honestly say that I've never had a bad customer service moment with them. If you dial directly into the department (banking, insurance, etc...) you need, a human answers the phone. A couple of years ago, someone got my debit card info and used it to buy some google adwords (two purchases totalling about $600). Apparently these purchases fit some profile that triggered them to call me, on a Sunday afternoon mind you, to validate the purchase. By Monday AM there was no evidence at all that the purchases even happened. My only minor dissapointment with them was, they sold my Mortgage about a month after I got it. I can still see my statements online, make payments, etc... through USAA, but the actual mortgage is owned by a 3rd party. I've actually had them call me to tell me I'm eligible for new discounts (based on tenure, etc...). Just all-in-all an excellent organization. I highly recommend them to anyone who can scrounge up some eligibility some how. Here is a breakdown of the services and eligibility |

I've had my house for a little over a month, and my mortgage has been sold twice. |

Their roadside assistance rocks. I just got the USAA mobile app for my new iPhone. Very nice. I can't wait to get my monthly check from the ex tomorrow so I can try out the mobile deposit feature. |

Maybe get an account with a local bank for that, and transfer the funds through them to your USAA account(s)? |
