Can we maybe have a compromise on the board? Create a locked forum that can only be seen by subscribers to that forum; NSFW stuff can go in there all day long. Since it wouldn't be browsed by search engines and the like those of us who perfer to keep the glade a little cleaner can do so. |

I don't know how technically feasable that is (I really don't know, ask Mookhow), but there are other issues too. What do we end up forcing to that other forum? Bad language? How racy does something need to be before it gets sent over there? It would end up very subjective, even if we can do it, I'm not sure that that's a good thing. My vote for now is to disallow the posting of embedded NSFW images. (Feel free to link them --properly labelled of course-- but no embedding them, even inside spoiler tags.) |

As long as the link doesn't alert the SpyBots, I'll second that Taly. |

There's also the problem that someone who does have access to the suggested NSFW sub-forum could trigger the filters even without visiting that subforum at work, if they have filters as nosy as the ones Midgen described in another thread. Then their company has this site added to some shared blacklist, which gets sent to other companies, and suddenly someone else who doesn't even have access to the NSFW forum finds themselves unable to visit at work because we're blacklisted as pornographic. That would be bad. |

What about all the stuff that's not tagged as NSFW, but still gets caught by WebSense. Youtube videos, gaming sites, hell, even the gamercard signatures cause problems with some filters and work machines. Are we gonna start banning those, too? And what about conversations that turn south? What do we do when Coro or someone else gets a little loose with the language or something? There's been many conversations over the years that would make most people blush, and would most certainly upset someone if they happened to be reading over someone's shoulder at work. Are we going to start policing that, too? Hell, the fact that we have a "Gaming" sub-forum is enough to tip-off some filters about this site. And some work places, especially those affiliated with government would probably not look too kindly at some of the discussions in Hellfire. The fact is, if we start getting rid of all the things that could "upset" the WebSense filters and such, we won't have much of a site left to speak of. And besides, don't we already have enough sub-forums? |

Why don't we just not post pictures of naked people and just leave it at that? |

And how far would we take that rule? For instance, this nude would even be considered "work safe." http://www.windows.ucar.edu/mythology/i ... _Venus.gif |

Interesting topic. One way to allow users access to specific forums while excluding bots is groups. If the user does not join said group no fillter will have access to said content. And I can blacklist that site in 10 characters George. |
