So I very rarely drink any kind of soda. I drink probably 3 or so a year. I saw this in the store and decided to check it out. It tastes like ... Pepsi. What is the point? |

No high fructose corn syrup. Some people feel very strongly about HFCS That said, the throwback Mt Dew tastes better to me. |

It's made with raw cane sugar like old Pepsi used to be made instead of the high fructos corn syrup the current Pepis (and almost all non-diet soda's) are made from. |

But it's REAL sugar~ It's like listening to a grand piano, rather than a keyboard sounding like a grand piano. Or seeing the real Mona Lisa, as opposed to a replica~!!!! Actually they don't have them here so I'm just talking out of the other side. I'm also bored at work and shaking my fist in your general direction for still being in sunday. |

I got some of the Mt Dew Throwback just because it was limited, and that I want to support real sugar instead of that awful industrial waste that is HFCS (technically, isn't HFCS considered waste, or is it just a bi-product? I heard that something about its inclusion in food is illegal?). It's only very slight, but there really is a taste difference. I prefer the real sugar taste. |

Coke has been doing bottled 'real sugar' versions for a while now. Costco was carrying it the last few times I as in there. Too many calories for me to drink often, but a friend brought some in to work, and it does taste a lot better than the HFCS version. |

alas; one of the things I have had to do away with over the past few weeks. I miss it though. The throwbacks are SO much better |

Midgen, that's just Coke bottled in Mexico, nothing "special". Real sugar, though more expensive, is still used in third world countries in many cases. I've heard that many people can tell "American" food by the taste that HFCS gives it, and most don't like the HFCS taste when compared to real sugar. Often you can find Mexican Coke in supermarket Mexican or ethnic food aisles (at least here in AZ)...for a bit more than the HFCS version in the soda aisle. |

My girlfriend says most of her culture doesn't like sweets, which supports what you've heard. They generally find everything way too sweet when they come here. Even when it comes to birthday cakes, the most popular type is some kind of wet cake that's not as sweet. By the way, she's Mexican. |

Sugar is only more expensive here... on the order of 3x the cost if I recall correctly, due to taxes on imported sugar to "protect" our domestic markets (mainly corn farmers and sugar plantations in a few areas). |

Sorry to necropost, but I didn't figure this needed a separate thread. Just picked up a bottle of Heritage Dr Pepper and it tastes great. Yay real sugar! |
