Can a person be addicted to another person? or is it indistinguishable from love?

A friend was told he was addicted to his girlfriend. He has a history of other addictive behavior (Drugs, sex, whatever) but I thought he was finally getting his life on track, but his therapist thinks that his girlfriend is a new symptom of addiction.

You don't ever beat addiction, you just find nicer things to be addicted to.

Nah, I don't think you could be addicted to people.

They're too hard to eat.

I wonder if his girlfriend thinks he is addicted to therapy.

My dog is addicted to chew toys. Little **** eats the damn things in a day and a half. The old one used to make a surgical strike right for the squeakers. This one? He leaves an apocalypse of fluff and fuzz in the hallway, proudly standing over his demolished piggy or bunny.

Yes you can. I don't think its the person though so much as it is the feelings associated. If someone makes you feel good and causes the release of endorphins in your brain then it would almost have to be possible to be addicted no?

Is it self-help if the person you are co-dependent on reads it to you?

No, bit they can become an obsession. Stalkers, murder-suicides, and other mentally ill folk frequently have obsessions that get midescribed as addictions.

It is a fairly common error.
