Yes or No

Seems like a rather obvious question though it's well known we do have some as someone put it "foreign exchange students."

Evolution has made us something new. It is still interesting to see where our roots lay.

I am assuming the poll means: Are you or have you ever been a member of the Ranger Party? In which case, I voted yes.

My roots are Shaman, however.

My last EQ character was a ranger. I spent most of my time as a doorstop paladin named Zexx Forgebreaker. But he had the heart of a ranger... I went into fear woth 2 other people at level 53 to get my epic. Because there wqs a rumor that it had just been cleared

Never played a ranger in EQ, though I have a hunter in wow.

I'm usually the one too busy healing the rangers when it rains, or the wind gets above a slight breeze, or it's not cloudy enough and the sun hits them...

Do you still tell knock-knock jokes from kindergarten too?

Seriously, why do people stil think its funny 10+ years after Kunark?

Because for me personally it’s nostalgia… It’s actually one of the habits I still keep from EQ. Others being macroing my heals/rez to contain a chatline of the person’s name whom I’m healing, sitting on people’s corpses when they die under stupid circumstances and my stupid happy face greeting (^-^)/).

So in short, it amuses me.

Oh I still tell blonde jokes, does that count?

Edit. Now thinking about it. Being able to keep up my own personal ranger during hard encounters, initiating him into the purple club on regular occasions and just liking the general silliness of most rangers I know is probably why I have a huge soft spot for them. :neko:

That game is also why i will not tank in WoW. I only could tank as a pally in EQ. I did it for many years... I want to actually enjoy a game now

Healing was worse. In order to minimize lag, my nose was permanently stuck to a wall of some sort. It was endless amusement to my guild when I could give you the strat to most bosses we did at the time, heal rotation timer, and positioning yet could not tell you what the boss looked like.

Beryllin and a Druid friend used to duo in the Planes with little trouble at all. He was not the tank in the way others were, but he wasn't the paper wimp that the Ranger jokes make him out to be, either. He even tanked the boss in Karnor's during raids from time to time. (Venril Sathir? Been a long time, hehehe.)

I miss my main-tanking ranger. Throw on every piece of regen gear you have + celestial heal = no drop of aggro, ever.

Yes, good ole VS in KC. (never did cough up a pair of pants for me, maybe I need to visit him again).

I've been tanking content for years with me playing Ranger and cleric/mage bot and my brother playing shaman with Wizzy bot.

But it is even more fun now. A couple years ago they boosted defense for everyone and that combined with cultural and SoF and now SoD and UF gear (and a pretty fair number of AAs) pushed Gorse into the 30K+ (now typically 38K+ HPs/4200+ AC raid buffed, can trip out everything to 44K+ for short periods, not counting runes and vies).

Now days I can tank pretty much anything that hits less than 5K. I would say 7K hitters, as I have tanked a number of the SoD named that hit into the 7Ks, but the new Underfoot trash mobs that hit for 6-7K usually tear me up.

Ranger alt, brought me to the original Glade, and converted me from playing the caster in every game to usually playing some sort of hybrid.

I do have a Hunter in WoW but I don't really think it plays much like the EQ Ranger, at least not from the era I played in. Enhancement Shaman seem pretty close to the EQ rangers of old, now that I think about it. I think the extent of my archery was during Trueshot or while pulling and the rest was all melee, all the time, and that's how I liked it! :p Enhancement Shamans sorta lack the grace of old EQ Ranger mechanics, I suppose, but maybe that's just the fact that I'm an orc with a big fraggin axe speaking, rather than an elf with the elegant Swiftwind... and some other weapon. Never did get the mainhand. :p

Incidentally, the only alt I play beyond tradeskill use and, lately, Primordial Saronite farming is my Enhancement Shaman!

I lived and breathed anything ranger (archer style) growing up. But, just as my taste palate has changed with age, so has my class preference. I am still a ranger, deep down. But when it comes to picking classes for games (especially D&D types) ranger tends not to be my first choice.

In terms of a lifestyle I would really like to partake of, I think Ranger would still be at the top of my list. I like the idea of really loving nature (just not in THAT way.... like druids do).

After A hiatus through most of OOW, and part of the Dragons one, I finally got a:

and paired it with a:
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=34865

I could have sworn that hammer had a chaotic strike proc. I know I had a weapon set that had a total of 4 chaotic strikes (2 from the weapons, and 2 from augments.)

My tanks *hated* me.
