Ok, I have a minor hobby... I usually put declarative statements (usually an attempt to be humorous ) in idle messages, status updates. I've done it for 15 years now, I started back with MUD's, MUSES and MUSHs. I started saving mine, and I figured I'd share. 99A% of them are not original, most are just a reflection of my mood that day--usually a Song, Line from a TV show, play or movie I'm wondering how many people actually 'get' the references... Do you? And if so, which? I can only conclude I am accumulating a Kharmic surpllus at a vastly accellerated rate - Not to put too fine a point on it, say I'm the only bee in your bonnet... No plan survives first contact intact. Pretty sure it’s “Von” [bonus points for this reference] aka Carl von Clausewitz Never been lonley, Never been lied to, never had to scuffle in fear, nothing denied to... (born at the instant, the chuch bells chimed, and the whole world whispering) Born at the right time- Paul Simon there's no dobut about it, it was the myth of fingerprints – (that’s what that old Army post is for) All around the World – Paul Simon (detecting I’m a Paul Simon fan yet?) Take me out to the black. Tell 'em I ain't comin' back. From Firefly theme song written by Josh Whedon I guess every form of refuge has its price... Peaceful Easy Feeling – Eagles Soylent Green! Its what's for dinner. Sounds like something Zombie esque cross of Soylent Green (is people and Beef) It’s what’s for dinner. I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign, but its my destiny to be the king of Pain. King of Pain - Police ...maybe I've a reason to believe we both will be received in Graceland... Graceland – Paul Simon can has cheezburger. ? LOLCatz isn’t it. is hopeful that the spider that bit him was radioactive. Now I just need webshooters. Peter Parker – aka Spiderman? Prepare to come about...ready about... HARD ALEE!! I recognize them as sailing commands, easily could have been used in dozens of sailing movies, so not sure of this reference Ex Astris, Scientia – from the starts comes knowledge – Star Trek reference (Ex Scientia Tridens – from knowledge sea-power – aka the Naval Academy motto) I knew a bunch of the others already identified too and felt I should know many of the others, but just not popping. |
