Well, not exactly. I may not be the biggest stud on earth, but I think I did ok for 34 years old with a thyroid condition

49 situps in one minute
48.5 seconds to sprint 300 meters
34 pushups without stopping (that's without stopping even in the "up" position)
11:36 to run 1.5 miles

5 minutes between events.

I also lost 10 pounds or so in the last month; down to 207 or so, which is the lowest in 10 years. I actually feel in reasonable shape for once!

Nice!

I must try this and see how out of shape I am and how I compare with IRON MAN.

What is the appx. equivalent of 300m? I am not good with metric distances.

Congratulations, DE.

FYI, the 48.5 300m extrapolates to a 1:04 400m ... if you account for the slower pace required to run an additional 100m, it'd probably push you aruond 1:07, but then the fact you did it after a 5 minute rest from other events pushes it back to 1:04 ish. As a matter of perspective, our 400m relay team two years ago averaged 1:02, so that's quite an accomplishment considering we were all college aged kids who had athletic backgrounds.

Putting all those together makes it all the more impressive. Have yourself a beer or two :D but not too many ... don't want to lose all that hard work.

Foamy: 400m is approx a quarter mile, one lap around a standard track surface on the inside lane.

If you can find a 400m track, it's 3/4 of the way around it.

An exact conversion is 300m=984.251969 feet or 328.08399 yards.

You can convert metric to english units or the reverse using Google. Just type "300 meters in yards" or whatever the appropriate number and units are into the google search and it will compute for you.

In the Army stopping anywhere other than in the up position will get you in trouble. It gets hard coded into your head.

Indeed. Not being able to stop in the "up" position is a major mentl change for me. And this is 5 minutes after the 100 meter sprint, which was in turn 5 minutes after the situps. Doing pushups after sprinting all-out has a major effect on your performance.

Not only that, but in this case, "Down" means "touching the floor", not just breaking a 90 degree angle.

When I do puchups for the Army I can get between 50 and 60 in 2 minutes, but they're the first event and they don't generally make you go down that far unless you get some guy that thinks its fun to knock off a few just for kicks.

That 34 was getting all 34 counted too; I didn't get any taken off for bad form. I was most disappointed with that event though, of the four. I had really hoped to get up to about 45, but it just wasn't happening.

Those are some mitigating circumstances, but you could do better on the push-ups.

50 real ones before thinking about stopping.

I always did real ones.

Dips are great for upper body strength and control.

I believe I just got done saying I'd like to do better on them. Go out and sprint 300 meters, wait 5 minutes, then see how many you can do. Yes, I know you're older. The answer will still be "a lot less than if I hadn't sprinted".

'Grats DE ;-p always good to improve your personal targets. I'm going the opposite direction at the moment, getting slower and fatter. I should try and get on top of that. Dang.

Glad you're doing it for me ;-p

I was going to ask if the Army changed their PT test but it sounds like it is for something else.
