A short survey on the use of viral marketing:

Question 1.) Do you enjoy the use of viral marketing?

Directions: Answer the above question using a scale of 1-5.

Scale: 1 = I do not enjoy viral marketing at all / 2 = I do not enjoy most viral marketing campaigns, but some have been enjoyable / 3 = I am neutral toward the subject / 4 = I do enjoy most viral marketing campaigns, but some have been unenjoyable / 5 = I do enjoy all viral marketing campaigns

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question 2.) True or False: Based on your experience with both viral marketing and how you see companies advertise their products, do you think that companies for whom viral marketing is an appropriate option (based on their target consumer) would be more likely to choose to advertise their product or service using viral marketing over more traditional methods (i.e. full page ads in publications, and/or TV/internet advertisements that more candidly explain the product/service)?

A = True

B = False

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question 3.) Overall, how would you rate the effectiveness of viral marketing as an advertising tool?

Directions: Answer the above question using a scale of 1-5.

Scale: 1 = I do not think viral marketing is effective at all / 2 = I think viral marketing is largely ineffective, but some campaigns seem to have worked / 3 = I do not know / 4 = I do think that most viral marketing campaigns are effective, with some that have failed / 5 = I do think all uses of viral marketing have been successful

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question 4.) What is your favorite use (or use that has made the deepest impression upon you, good or bad) of viral marketing to date?

EDIT: Changed the wording on Question 2 for more clarity.

Hopwin:

By your first answer, do you mean a 1 on the scale of 1-5?

As for the second question: what I am basically asking is -- do you think it true or false that a company would favor viral marketing over a more traditional form of marketing, based on your experience with both marketing as a whole and viral marketing? (I'll edit that last part into my original post)

Sorry yes, 1.
That really depends on the company or industry doesn't it?

I'd say all companies could potentially use it, but for the sake of the argument, we'll say yes -- companies that would be most likely to consider it as an option. I've gone back re-worded Question 2 to imply that the companies I am asking about are companies that would consider viral marketing as appropriate to their target audience.
