But Happy Birthday anyway you sneaky ol' fart! Katas wrote: Happy birthday, birthday twin.
I am glad you had a good day. The DMV basically ruined my birthday, though I was not without blame on it. |

Thanks! I didn't but I was working and freaking about DMV stuff - driver's license renewal. Since I found out I can renew by mail even though my license is expired by 1 day, I hope to make my 'weekend' better. Including, but not limited to, possibly getting Michael out to sushi tonight or Thursday. A new place downtown, near Mikuni's, called Azukar. Mmmm.... sushi. I did have Dr. Pepper cake - which was good - and things are looking up. |

The recipe I found for Dr. Pepper Cake: 1 cup butter or margarine (butter is better) 1 cup Dr. Pepper soft drink 2 cups unsifted all-purpose flour 1 1/2 cups sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon baking soda pinch salt 4 tablespoons cocoa 2 beaten eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla 1/2 cup buttermilk 1 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows Dr. Pepper Frosting- 1/2 cup Dr. Pepper soda pop 1/4 cup butter or margarine 3 tablespoons cocoa 3 cups powdered sugar 1/2 cup chopped pecans 1 teaspoon vanilla Melt butter. Add the Dr. Pepper soft drink and stir well. Mix all of the dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. Add the eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, and marshmallows. Pour the Dr. Pepper mixture over the rest of the ingredients in the mixing bowl. Mix them together well. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit in a greased 9x12 inch pan for 30-35 minutes. Dr. Pepper Frosting Instructions- Heat Dr. Pepper soda pop, cocoa, and butter or margarine, but don't bring to a hard boil. Stir in rest of ingredients and mix together well. Spread Dr. Pepper frosting on while cake is still hot. Variation: Use lemon extract instead of vanilla Variation: Peanut Butter Frosting 6 tablespoons butter, room temperature 1 cup packed brown sugar 2/3 cup peanut butter 1/4 cup milk 2/3 cup chopped, unsalted peanuts While the cake is baking, cream the butter, brown sugar, and peanut butter together. Add the milk and mix well. Add the peanuts. Stir well. Spread over the cake while it is still warm. After cake is frosted, put it under the broiler on the top oven rack (about 4-5 inches from top). Broil for a few seconds only, just until frosting starts to get tiny air bubbles. Watch carefully so as not to burn cake. Let cake cool for about half an hour before eating. NOTE: My wife expected this to be so-so because the sugar seemed so low but she forgot Dr. Pepper's going to add a lot of sweetness so while the batter may not be awesome while you mix, the final product can be. |

Just ate a lot of Sushi and spent some time talking to Mr. and Mrs. Katas. Good time. In case they ever come to visit, break out the real hot sauce, but only for him. |
