Today is a cause for celebration, because I finally dumped my psycho girlfriend who has been sucking the life out of me for nigh 16 years. Her name: Wells Fargo. |

Rodahn wrote: That's scary because I have a retirement fund set up with them. Hmmmm . . . When I first met her, she was great. She was kind and sweet. I had no problems with her for a long time. But the last few years, she began to slowly change. She began to become more demanding all of a sudden. She would start throwing surprises at me unexpectedly..... bad surprises. At first, I shrugged them off as "That will never happen again" or "Two times in two months probably isn't a big deal." But the pattern began to get worse and worse. It was more and more clear she was only out for herself and that bleeding me dry and hemorrhaging money from me was her ultimate goal. She was not there to pleasure me anymore. As far as she was concerned, she had me whipped and I wasn't going anywhere. In her mind, I was going to take it and like it. But, I found a better woman. One who actually cares about me and treats me with respect. It was something I had forgotten was possible in this sort of relationship. I began having an affair with her a couple months ago. And it made me realize that not all women are out to destroy my soul and take my money. Long story short, I had no problems with Wells Fargo until the last few years. And it steadily had gotten worse. Little hidden charges and fees..... nickel-and-diming me becoming more and more commonplace. Employees "innocently" causing goof-ups (multiple branches) that seemed far too common to be mistakes. I got very sick and tired of it. I've been with them since '94, back when they were First Security. But it wasn't until recently that it started to get bad. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but it never got better. Only worse. |

If you can finagle a membership, I highly recommend USAA. |

I'm fairly happy with USAA, they're neither small nor local. If I didn't have them I can't think of another large bank I'd bother with, though... |

Odd. I've never had any issues with Wells Fargo. I get a fair amount of promotions for products, but one has to expect that at some level. I just say "no thanks" and move on. |

I'm confused too. If you weren't on the original board, how do you know of his awesome stories? Hop's a pretty good writer too, from what I recall. |

She covered this when she joined. She was exposed to us way back when, then when she needed some friends, she thought this place might be welcoming. Too bad we drove her away with our harsh isolationism, she sounded like she might have been a fun poster. |

I'm just glad she got rid of the creepy cat. The whimsical, dynamically illustrated Seuss hat on its own is far better. |

USAA is especially awesome now that you can use a scanner to deposit checks instead of mailing them in like the old days...that used to be the ONLY thing I didn't like about them. |

Does this mean the pirate debit card is no more, Numbuk? |

Post subject: | Re: Finally Dumped that ****** |
The pirate debit card is a child from the steamy affair I had with my current bank (well, credit union). So it is still safely snug in my wallet. Kirra: Thanks for the kind words! I enjoyed writing when I did, but at the time real life kept me from doing it as often as I would have liked. And the longer I went without updating (and the longer I stayed away from EQ and it's community) the harder it became. My biggest upset is that Da Tale of Tales doesn't exist in any digital format that I have now. I had a copy of it on my old PC and also backed up to my FTP server. But, I had since formatted that PC....and it wasn't until recently when I checked my ftp server that I found out that my ftp server lost everything irrecoverably. Archive.org helped me get the first page of DToT back, but I could never figure out how to view the second page of the thread. But anyway, writing is something I have recently thought about starting up again. Don't think I'd write as an ogre again, but the idea of humorous fantasy is still appealing to me. The one idea I've been mulling around is all the generic fantasy bad guys (trolls, ogres, dragons, orcs, zombies, etc.) one day realize they're fed up with being treated as inferiors and cannon fodder. They band together, turn over a new leaf, and attempt to integrate themselves into normal society and become accepted by all. Obviously, the do-gooders don't want any of that. |
