I was gonna name this thread Bamboo rayon / Modal Beech but I figured this would get more viewers.

I just bought a really nice down comforter and high thread count sheet set (400 thread pima cotton--felt better than all the other kinds they had, even the 800 thread count egyptian cotton) from Kohls.

Wow. I am seriously impressed. Before I just had the el cheapo bedspread ala Wally World, but from now on I'm never going back to that crap. I think next time I might even try a nice bamboo or beech set or some kind of blend from one of these.

I also found out they make clothing out of this stuff. I know the Calvin Klein brand makes T-shirts and underwear out of some 90% Modal and 10% lycra....that 90% is made from Beech trees and is apparently really superior to cotton. I know I think Taamar is the one who raves about beech sheets?

Bamboo rayon looks like it's used in other high quality clothing.

I thought Calvin Klein was too expensive, and you're really paying for the namebrand there, so I was looking for alternatives.

I've found a place: http://amorous4.us/Default.aspx

They seem to have good deals--their stuff is not nearly as expensive as name brands but I hear good things.

So if anyone knows of any other sites to order this kind of stuff from, please let me know!

Dude, you just cannot go wrong with that stuff. Since I started using quality sheets, I can never go back to $20 wally world crap.

Much like a person should never use the cheap bargain TP on their tusch... you should never use low quality sheets on your sleeps.

I love my beech sheets, but they tend to wear quickly (about 18 month lifespan) so I lately got a set of the bamboo. Nice, but not as soft as the beech. I'll be switching back and dealing with frequent replacement.

I dream of a time when I can afford pure linen sheets. Linen is one of the most durable fibers and can absorb 25% of its weight in water without feeling damp. It always feels cool to the touch and gets softer with every wash. Did I mention 'durable'? Rumour has it that Queen Elizabeth II still uses Queen Victoria's linen sheets. Theoretically I could drop a grand on two sets and never have to buy sheets again.

How long does bamboo last?

I've been wearing these fruit of the loom shirts (50% poly 50% cotton) and they last about twice as long as 100% cotton, how would these materials compare to that?

The shirts are 70% Rayon made from Bamboo, 30% Organic Cotton.

..and the underwear are a blend of bamboo and modal (beech)

It's one thing to buy nicer clothing but if it wears out faster than the stuff I got it could get pretty expensive. I'm assuming bamboo is a lot more durable than beech, but how does it compare to cotton and other fabric blends?

The other nice thing about bamboo materials is they are microbial and to a certain extent, hypoallergenic.

OK, every guy in this thread (no pun intended) just lost his man card. Up against the wall, come on, don't take forever...

Since this post is after your man card revocation, I'm keeping mine. Just want to say that I don't see anything wrong with being comfortable, snuggled up with something soft and warm when you're sleeping. Or are you telling me the Alpaca isn't on your list?

You may take their man cards, but the fact that they are talking about the comfort and softness of their bedding makes them much more attractive to women and more likely to get a woman to sleep over.

*pickpockets the man cards and passes them back out* :D

Fresh, clean soft sheets are the most wonderful thing to get into when you get home from work, take a hot shower then yum!

Yeah, no kidding.

There was a guy training a girl at the register. The dude goes "Okay now...lemme guess, your wife or girlfriend sent you here to buy these things" so I go "nope....just thinking ahead"....then like 5 seconds later I point at the girl and go "she knows." lol.

And she assisted me to my car and I got her number.

;)

Hell yeah and I also bought a nice rainfall showerhead and a handheld massaging showerhead for the "guest" bathroom ;)

I love the rainfall showerhead.

Just take it with you when you get a new place ;)

I did have to use vice grips and a wrench to get the old one off, though.

Speaking of Kohls, I just got a $130 down (goose) comforter on sale for about $30, easily the best blanket I've ever had. It weighs almost nothing and it's so warm I don't need to use anything else.

I think this is a sign of me getting old; I'm excited about blankets and pillows.

I just recently upgraded my bed.
I'm now sleeping on a queen size, 11" deep memory foam mattress with sheets of jersey knit beech.
It's pretty damn comfortable.

I use bamboo, very comfortable and get nice and soft after a few months of use. They wrinkle like crazy though.
