Microsoft just started a contest for making a Windows 7 Phone application. Come up with an idea, winner gets $5,000 and a WP7 device. I submitted an idea for a photography light meter that I always thought would be amazingly useful on the iPhone but is restricted because of Apple's rules. If you think it sounds like a good idea, feel free to give me a vote. Thanks :p |

Also, if you happen to have a good idea yourself, no hard feelings if you run against me! I'll just have to release the hounds. |

I just realized that you can vote once every day, sooooo... If anyone finds some free time on their hands... :p The rules say that everyone in the top 150 will be looked at and judged by a panel, so as long as I stay above that threshold I'll have a shot. There aren't 150 yet, but there's about 100 submissions so far with 30 days left to go. |

I clicked the link thinking it would lead to a description of your app, not the actual vote.... so I voted for it. Not that I wouldn't have anyway, but I'm curious about the app itself. |

You can click on my profile avatar (the camera) to see the full description, but here it is: Quote: This is something that could be done with any decent-quality camera on a mobile device. Professional photographers always carry light meters with them so they can take the best pictures possible. If someone was able to make an application that utilized the phone's camera to measure the light, it would be such an amazing help! Tons of people would eat it up.
Are you a professional photographer? How about a hobbyist? Either way, being able to gauge light in your shot without the need for an extra piece of equipment could be a life-saver for anyone! Being able to measure ambient and reflected light in your environment is a must if you want to take professional-quality pictures. I feel like this idea is very unique and so far as I know, hasn't been done yet in the app world. How feasible it actually is, I can't say, but I'm sure the people making these phones would be able to figure something out. This could be the "killer" app for anyone that loves taking photos! |

I would think so.. at this point it doesn't really matter, though. Everyone in the top 150 gets looked at by the judges. If you're in that bracket, placement doesn't seem to matter. |

You should hire some 4chan kiddies to inflate your votes:p Afterall, they managed to get Justin Bieber a free trip to North Korea. :p http://www.boingboing.net/2010/07/05/4c ... ns-ju.html Oh, and for the record, before I read an article about this earlier today, I had no idea who Justin Bieber was, and was quite OK with that :p |
