Just got back from a week in Idaho/Wyoming with the main attractions being Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Took the vacation with the entire immediate family (+niece), something we haven't been able to do in . . . 20 years, so that was nice if nothing else. Anyway, for nature lovers, that area is pretty much Mecca. Definitely recommend a trip in the warmer months (due to weather predictability) for those not into winter sports, but we had a few good days. Pretty crazy we were having snow storms at higher elevations, with a significant amount of snowfall still on the ground in mid-June. Oh well, that's they way it goes up in moose country I guess. Pics coming shortly. Uploading now. |

There are tons I'd like to share, but I need to work out the logistics of that first. In the meantime, I'll post some highlights a few at a time. (Note: Photoshopped for optimal quality) The first thing we saw exiting the plane in the airport of Jackson Hole, WY. What an introduction: Spoiler: The view along the road in Wyoming leading to the ranch house we stayed in in the town of Victor, Idaho: Spoiler: Another sweeping vista on the way to Victor (there were many of these): Spoiler: Evening light coming through the trees near our ranch house (some don't like lens flares, but I think they add to photographs): Spoiler: More later. |

Gorgeous pictures!! Thank you, I can't wait to see more! I've been to Montana when visiting my sister, Wyoming is my next place to visit, someday. |

Heh, thanks, all. Here's some more: Given more time and effort, I could probably shop out the power lines in this pic, but oh well: Spoiler: Another shot of the rainbow we saw right over our ranch house: Spoiler: Mountains playing peek-a-boo through the clouds and mist: Spoiler: Misty mountains over water (note the birds flying left of center): Spoiler: |

Such beauty should be shared, IMO. Speaking of which, here's some more: On the way to Yellowstone attractions. I think this was taken either in the shallow part of the South entrance, or in Grand Teton. The two parks practically meld into each other: Spoiler: A purty little waterfall off the side of the road: Spoiler: I think this scene was on the opposite side of the road from the previous waterfall: Spoiler: Some of the ubiquitous bison we encountered on our trip. Many of them just lumbered on up to the side of the road, looking for hand-outs no doubt: Spoiler: Old Faithful in action: Spoiler: |

Here are some more: The Grand Prismatic Spring (I couldn't get the awesome aerial views, of course, but it was still pretty snazzy): Spoiler: I don't remember the name of this spring, but I feel this is one of my best shots, in terms of color and lighting: Spoiler: This was a little river running along side the hot spring cluster. You can see the steaming run off from the springs there right of center: Spoiler: A deep gorge. I believe this is part of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone area (can you spot the rainbow?): Spoiler: Another canyon shot: Spoiler: |

Very pretty. Nice that you got to see it before the Supervolcano awakens and swallows it all up. |
