That could do a huge favor for me?

I need you to photoshop my friend's face onto the Mona Lisa:

..and also, if possible, sexy it up a bit.

Kinda like this: Image

If anyone could do that for me it would be greatly appreciated...it's gonna be a birthday gift :)

Send me a PM or something!

Wow. That's a crazy high res source of the Mona Lisa. Nice find.

I could give this a shot, but I'll be honest -- for reasons that are kind of hard to explain, I'm trying to kick the Photoshop(R)(TM) habit. Not photo editing in general, just Photoshop in particular. Gimp lacks adjustment layers, which is like having my arm cut off. They've been saying they'll add them for, what, at least a decade now? Seriously **** Gimp

I may experiment with Krita, which I hear does have adjustment layers, but I haven't really used it before, so I don't know if it's actually any good.

So if I give this a try, I'm not really sure what tools I'm going to have to work with, or how well it will turn out. More to the point, I don't know how fast I'm going to be able to work, so deadlines might be an issue if this is something you need in 2 or 3 days. How soon do you want this done?

Well I have about a month. The only problem I have currently is the picture of the persons face isn't exactly high res...but I think it's workable, lol.

Ah. A month should be more than enough, I think. If it were a one-week deadline, I would have to be a little non-committal.

PM me the pic, and I can poke around at it in Krita and see what I've got to work with. It looks like I'll be missing median and high-pass filters if I go that route, but I don't think I'll need them for this. If worst comes to worst, I can still use Photoshop if I have to; I'd just rather force myself to learn something else.

What's wrong with photoshop?

I'm guessing there's no Linux version.

There's not a Linux version, but in and of itself, that's not necessarily an issue. In my experience, you can run CS2 under WINE without any serious problems.

Let's just say that it's one of the things contributing to my dismissal of Photoshop.

Another is that Adobe's product line is getting really, obscenely bloated beyond all reason. The Acrobat 8 Pro installer package, for instance weighs it at over 800MB, and it's surely compressed. The actual installed size is...I don't even want to know. It also takes 45+ minutes to install on Core 2 quad. The joke is that I'm not joking.

But ultimately the biggest factor is simply that I'm tired of dealing with licensed software in general.
