Sorry, this is probably more at home in tech, but may don't frequent that forum, and I'm looking for a wide array of answers. What do you consider your primary/favorite browser? I say "favorite" in case (for example), you really, really love Firefox, but are forced to use Internet Explorer at work. (Sorry for the tech questions, between this and the email thing...just been curious of late.) |

Chrome gives me the multi-tab performance I desperately need. IE gets crushed under the weight of my habitually open tabs of things I haven't gotten around to reading yet. Firefox's excessive tab performance has faltered, of late, and they don't have the robust tools to manage out of control pages/plugin resource useage when you get up in those ranges. I kill Flash probably three or four times a month, for instance, because it has a tendency to leak RAM when left alone for days at a time. |

I've traditionally preferred Firefox, but lately I've gotten annoyed with its memory footprint. So I'm transitioning to Chrome, even though it doesn't have all the features/extensions that I like yet. |

I use Chrome for the bulk of the things I do. I use Firefox for somethings, and IE I use only when at work tools will not format to Chrome well, or when I am trying to troubleshoot something with Cox or Sprint at home. |

I was using Chrome... But I have a feeling it's not as secure. I switched from Firefox to Chrome for a week, and got a virus....And seeing as it had been 6 years before that virus free, I'm thinking it's awfully coincidental. It likely wasn't Chrome, but I wasn't impressed enough with it's performance that it was worth taking the chance. |

Also, it's been a while since I used it... But does it handle PDFs well now? When I was using it, I could never get it to properly load PDFs, and about half of what I do online is getting journal articles, so good PDF support is a must. |

The PDF rendering seems to take longer to load than, say, Firefox, and be a little laggy in the first few seconds after loading. But it's fine, otherwise. |

My problem was mostly that they were loading corrupted, or it would load blank and take 2 or 3 refreshes to come up at all. I had resigned myself to just using Firefox every time I needed to look up a PDF, and using Chrome for all my personal browsing. But this was early in it's history, it may well have changed over the last 6 mos. |

Yeah, early on I had similar problems. Adobe and/or Google have worked on the operation of Adobe's products within Google's process-isolated plugin framework, though, and it's vastly improved both Flash and PDF performance on Chrome. |

IE because it’s the only one with a full non-clunky fullscreen option, Chrome and Opera’s full screen modes have no access to bookmarks or the address bar so you constantly have to exit full screen mode to do things and firefox is just very clunky, when you go to the top of the screen so the address bar pops down it resizes the entire viewing window, same with bookmarks and after you click a bookmark the window just hangs around shrinking your viewing area till you manually close it, IE’s address bar and favorite bars are like a second layer that just hovers over the web page when you need them and the bookmarks go away once you’ve clicked on the one you want to go to. |

I do 90% of my browsing with Chrome. I still have to use IE for our Microsoft specific intranet sites. I occasionally dabble with Opera, because I've read good things about it, particularly in the speed department. Chrome is fast, and I rarely encounter problems. |

Well yes, I did start using it because of my UMPC’s 4.5” screen, but even on my 23” monitor I still prefer fullscreen mode. To me my thought is why would I want stuff that’s use accounts for maybe 1% of the time I’m using my browser open constantly when I could see more of the web page, same reason most everyone plays games in full screen, if you don’t need the other stuff like program title bar and windows start bar then why have it wasting space 100% of the time? |

I can't use IE because the time to create a new tab is unbearable and unjustifiable. IE9 is looking very promising, though. |
