So a good friend of mine and his wife have helped me remodel my guest bedroom, bath, and my office. She was in charge of design, while he was the fix-it guy with the power tools and such. Essentially I gave her a budget, and she went out and bought everything for me and I reimbursed her. Then they spent many weekends here painting, fixing drywall, installing fixtures, etc. I of course helped with the unskilled labor stuff (painting, cleaning, and prep work). And she had done a lot of stuff without me there (I had given them a key). I come home from work one day and there's a bookshelf in my office, and all my books that were still in boxes from when I moved in were all in the bookshelf (she's a school teacher so she has the summer off).

With how insanely busy I've been at work, getting all this stuff done by myself, before my parents come in to town, would have been flat out impossible. No way it would happen. And you know how much they charged me for this full service? Zero. So all this is to say that I owe them big time. Now that the work is all finished, I'd like to give them something to show my appreciation. Any ideas?

Relaxation and pampering, they deserve it.

Yeah, spa package idea is great...plus the resorts around here are all having off-season rates...set em up for a weekend before school starts up again.

Spa package? Like a weekend at a hotel for the two of them? Sounds great for the girl, but is the guy the type to appreciate that. If so, good idea!

Or maybe make up a large basket of things you know they enjoy.

Like :

1. Day Spa gift cert for the girl
2. Bottle of wine or liquor that you know they like.
3. Several diffterent gift cards to restaurants you know they enjoy.
4. Gift cards to go to the movies.
5. Various different things for the basket, like Godiva chocolates, maybe special hot sauces, just little things you know they like.
6. For the guy maybe a day golfing

you get the idea :). You can get a huge basket from alot of places and fill it with this stuff, wrap it in cellophane with a huge puffy bow!

Would be personal and give them several days to enjoy each of the things you put in!

Good Luck!

They did the work together as a couple...something they could both enjoy together, like a weekend get-away sounds perfect.
Any bed and breakfasts nearby?
Spa sounds great if the guy is into it.

That isn't a bad idea, a bed and breakfast might work. As you say, I'd like something they both can enjoy, since they did the work together.

Aegnor,

You could set them up with a SPA/Golf weekend in Mesquite NV. Weekend at a hotel, SPA treatment for her and a round of golf for him. Throw in a dinner for two and that would be primo for many people.

*edit*
I only suggest Mequite because your location says Phoenix. so it is the proximity which guides my suggestion.
