What's a HOPA?

Never quit your job until you have a new one, and never make a scene on your way out the door. You can't unburn a bridge, and odds are you'll need a recommendation or reference in the future, especially if you are a candidate in a large company. In addition, in this economic environment, current employment is a near prerequisite for a new job, and as such is an advantage one would be foolish to give up.

Furthermore, going out with gusto... video-viral gusto... is not going to line you up for many interviews with businesses demanding a more conservative and professional attitude in the work place.

Air-Plane-Boy and HOPA, welcome to the world.

Funny, I was thinking pretty much the same thing Rynar. Infamous doesn't look good on a resume.

Yea, but that's a HPOA, not a HOPA. No matter, she's still very frakkin' hot, either way. And I applaud her effort!

Holy hell, that page took forever to load.

Real or not, looks like someone's been reading Surviving the World.

I think, given the circumstances, her going out with flare is not so off-color. Course, if your next potential employer is in the good ol' boys club, you might be screwed.

It has nothing to do with being in the "good ol' boys club", it has to do with being a potential employer. If I have the choice of two candidates, and one has shown themselves willing to cause a scene, and act unprofessionally on their way out the door, my choice has been made easy. You control your own destiny because you control your own body of work and reputation, the reason it is so important to manage is because they will be judged by others as a condition of employment. You may not like it, but that's life.

Well yeah, but - if you're not a douchebag employer, you have nothing to worry about. Right?

Yes...because employees are never lazy, classless, or utterly useless, and never feel like they're wronged party in a firing scenario. Right?

Actually, I was satirizing the "if you have nothing to hide, you shouldn't be worried by Big Brother's invasions of your privacy" mindset. Thanks for missing the point and trying to bash me for my opinions, though.

Wasn't "bashing you for your opinions." I was commenting. I guess you missed my satirization.

Since you seem so ready to take personal offense and accuse me of personally attacking you or whatever, I've no desire to continue the conversation with you, and I'll leave it up to you to decide. I expect a five-page assessment of the topic on my desk by tomorrow.

You may double-space.

I'm not sure exactly how else this could be taken if it's not personal... I mean, it's not like you were even involved in the conversation up 'til this point. Almost looks like you were just gonna leave this thread alone but couldn't resist tossing some smart-ass comment my way. But hey, you go ahead and tell yourself whatever you think you need to hear.

OK, if I thought this was a flamewar before Vindi's avatar made an appearance, I was wrong.
