I had no idea: AP wrote: The misuse of one little vowel frustrates a lot of Nevadans who get irritated by the mispronunciation of the state's name — using an "ah" instead of "a." So the middle a is supposed to be pronounce like the a in "van"? |

I think LadyKate needs to record a couple of sound clips, for each pronunciation type, so I can compare. |

Lol I'm the worst to ask...I grew up in Oregon and transplanted to Mississippi. Ever heard a pacific-northwestern/southern accent? I get made fun of on all sides! ...but for the record...its neither...its Ne-vah-yda. |

Lex Luthor wrote: Kind of like how Oregon is pronounced "Organ". Yeah, that one I've adjusted to. I used to say Or-uh-gone, but now I say Or-i-gin. The one change I will never, ever make, though, is Missour-ee to Missour-uh. When politicians and reporters from other states pronounce it Missour-uh, I just cringe. |

Mi'waukee. Very few people know that, unless they're from, ya know, Milwaukee. Of course, there's always the Cudahy joke. |
