What are some things that "the majority" of other people (of various demographics) traditionally tend to like, that you are just not into? For me: Sports (Blech. Boring waste of time and funding. Scholastic performance slips all the time, but heaven forbid your local college doesn't get that new stadium. And pro athletes NOT make an outrageous amount of money every year? Bite your tongue!) Ice Cream (I like the occasional dip, but otherwise -- haven't really craved it in many years) Online Console Gaming (If I want to play online, I'll turn on my computer. Console input devices just are not adequate for online gaming, IMO.) Dancing/Clubbing (Going to a glorified bar that is over-crowded, filled with drunk/high/smoking people, with music blaring to ear-bleeding levels while you make a fool of yourself with your shitty dancing skills? No thanks.) Texting (Gotta pay more money for the ability to type short, often misspelled messages to someone, taking your attention away from more important things like . . . driving, working, walking near a busy street, watching your children.) Going to Movies (Theaters are the devil -- noisy people who insist on chatting through the whole damn movie; 30 minutes of previews; sticky floors/uncomfortable seats) The Beach (Having the cancer-causing rays of the sun beat down on you, while having to wear greasy sunscreen, swimming in waters that has Lord knows what in it. And no way in hell am I getting into just bathing shorts for all to see.) |

Sports are fun...most people who play sports are pretty one dimensional (jocks, and those shirtless guys with the beer helmets at football games), and the pro athletes are definitely overpaid. Ice cream is awesome. Dip'N'Dots is even better. Online Console Gaming...well, I generally agree, usually the games I want to play online are on my PC. There will be a few games on PS3 I'll wanna take online though, like Mortal Kombat and Gran Turismo 5. Dancing / Clubbing----drinking is fun, I don't always drink beer, but when I do...I prefer dos equis. Oh, and dancing with a sexy female = awesome. It helps to have rhythm. I generally agree, though, "going clubbing" is retarded. Enter "Night at the Roxbury".... Texting --I love texting. I don't like long conversations, but if I have to, I have the blackberry, and I type very fast (I constantly amaze people). I'd rather get a text first and then a call. Kind of like a pager/phone. I hate answering cold calls, and I hate voice mail. I HATE VOICE MAIL. DIE! Going to the Movies---the big screen is worth it, sometimes, man! If you have a 60 inch 3D HDTV in your living room, though, it's definitely the way to go. The Beach....man, how can you not like the beach? Lots of nearly naked girls running around....the ocean...swimming....surfing...how is the beach a bad thing? Anyways...me? I guess I'll add to the sports thing. I don't really see why sports like Football and Golf are so popular. Sports I like: Darts, Bowling, Skateboarding, Snowboarding, Rock climbing, other "extreme" sports, etc... Oh, and going to the bar to drink and "hit on chicks" is a lame way to spend your evenings. Also, I don't understand why so many people insist on being a follower, going to college, getting the degree, writing the resume, impressing a boss, kissing their ***, living paycheck to paycheck and investing in their 401k so that when they're 65, old and gray and unable to control their bowels or sit up straight can retire and finally start enjoying their life. People look forward to retiring at 65 (or heaven forbid, older) so much it makes me want to vomit. On top of that, all of these types of people are very unhealthy and generally start gaining weight and becoming depressed around age 30 and become set in their ways, so by the time they actually DO retire they are too unhealthy to enjoy their retirement, and too stupid to do anything with it anyways and end up becoming walmart door greeters. There's this one door greeter at walmart that has crossed eyes....I hate him. Why does he look at me like that? What a weirdo. Yeah, lets put cross-eyed people as the first person to see upon entering your store. Great, job, Walmart. Assholes. |

The thing with both the beach and dancing at clubs: if you are not a young, attractive person with a fairly good physique, most won't give you a second glance. Those bikini babes 99.9% of the time won't give you any play, and the odds of dancing with a hot girl at a club are next to nil unless you fit the physical ideal (or look rich). So both are just one grand cock tease, and I'd end up just looking foolish if I went to these places. Theater big screens: most are old, tearing and shitty quality, stretching everything out so much that stuff looks grainy and . . . off (don't forget the warbley sound, and inability to synch it properly with the film). If theaters go digital, that's another story. I enjoy the content of a movie infinitely more than where it is being played and on what surface it is being projected. |

Sports - nope, not into it. Ice Cream - I like ice cream, but I'm not sure how much one would have to like it to be "into" it. Dancing/Clubbing - I used to go to the club with some buddies of mine. Met my first wife there. Then I figured "I found my one true love, why would I want to keep going to the clubs?". Turned out her mindset was "I love clubbing, so it should be even more fun now that I have the love of my life to go clubbing together with". Yeah, that marriage was doomed ... Texting - I love texting. I can exchange thoughts & ideas without my conversation and my environment becoming disruptive to each other, and I have a semi-permanent record of the conversation to serve as reference in the event that I should forget or become unclear about what was said. Going to Movies - Love going to the movies. Hate the ticket prices. Last-run theaters are the bomb The Beach - I like good beaches and good beach weather. Bad beaches and/or bad beach weather = not so enjoyable. Rodahn wrote: The thing with both the beach and dancing at clubs: if you are not a young, attractive person with a fairly good physique, most won't give you a second glance. If you're going to these places to pick up tail, and not getting any action, you will of course not be enjoying yourself. If you're there because you like clubs/beaches and the prospect of hooking up is nothing but a bonus, you'll probably have more fun.Rodahn wrote: Theater big screens: most are old, tearing and shitty quality, stretching everything out so much that stuff looks grainy and . . . off (don't forget the warbley sound, and inability to synch it properly with the film). I don't experience these problems, even in the dollar theaters. If I did, I'd stop going to those theaters. Totally unfair to dis the theater experience based on shitty theaters.

Reading Novels - I just can't. I love creativity, I love fantasy, I love being taken off to another world. I just don't want to only read about it. The pen is mightier than the sword, sure, but video games have pens AND swords. Beat that, book. Going "places" to "hang out" - Sometimes I'll do this, but I don't see the point. If I want to hang out, I have an awesome couch at home with video games at arms reach. I also have a poker table, a dart board, and a phone to call friends with. BYOBB. Hitting on chicks - Can't be bothered. Ballers don't have to. |

Here is my list: Cars - I really could frikking care less about how cars work. I just give not even a ****. There are people who take classes and get degrees on how to keep cars in good repair. Not something I am interested in. Clubbing - why cram in with 4.6 million other people into a loud room filled with other people who are getting sweaty and nasty when I can just chill in my own chosen place? I cannot dance... so why bother? Online Console Gaming - why is it so awesome? I play WoW, that is about the extent of my online gaming. I am okay with that... I played a single game of UNO on XBox live to get the achievement... I was good with that. |

People there just for the music or drinks are going to be in the vast minority. Beaches are often crowded, with a blaring sun, and questionable/temperamental water conditions. And of course the look but don't touch members of the opposite sex (i.e. cock tease). But I cannot remember the last time I had an actual enjoyable theater experience. That tends to taint my view of all theater experiences. |

Most of the universe is 'look but don't touch'. It's a social norm, not a cock tease. It's also what keeps you from being randomly fondled by bears. |

I hate the beach because sand sucks. The sun sucks. People suck. And I am terrified of the ocean(totally rational fear). Plus, I'm fat. No one wants to see me in a bathing suit. |

Same with strip clubs -- a girl writhing in front of you naked is not done to help you study for your SATs, it's for sexual stimulation. Touching is kinda the point of sex. |

Rodahn - All I'm trying to say is that it's not fair to dis these places because you're not very successful at scoring strange tail. In general, if you're not enjoying the "atmosphere", you might as well not go. People go to clubs/beaches to have fun; and if they're looking to hook up, they want to hook up with somebody fun. If the only way you're going to have fun at a club or beach is to hook up with someone, you'll need to already have accomplished your goal in order to become what you need to be in order to accomplish your goal. In other words... |

That's the whole point of the thread, tho -- to express places/things commonly-enjoyed by many others, that you are not into personally, regardless of reasons. |

People in general I tend to get annoyed at the vast majority of people I meet. I don't have any close friends anymore. My life consists of a wife, my dogs, and my immediate family. People tend to piss me off. As such..... Phones, etc I hate phones and don't text. I only use my phone when I need to, to get in touch with a family member for a reason of need. I will call my parents from time to time, just to check in. My old job required me multi-tasking while taking hundreds of annoying phone calls. This made me hate phones forever..... Reality anything I don't do reality TV programs. My wife watches a few, but I can't stand it. I will never watch Dancing with the Starts, American Idol, or any other of the plethora of **** TV on the tube. Pop and Country Music I hate pop culture and music, I don't do fads. And I've tried to listen to country music many times, but find that I loathe it, no matter who the musician is. The only thing that closely resembles country that I will even tolerate, is blue grass. Shopping Malls Hates them. Lots of people walking around with their fingers up their butts, sneezing and hacking. Food courts of vile, disgusting bateria being served for the people to slop down their pie holes like pigs at trough. Stupid stores cramped for space with junk I don't want or need. The only time I enter the local one, is to visit Sears for parts for my appliances, or the rare occation I have a need for a cloathing item which is rare. Commerical Chain Restaurants Junk. Baby back ribs up your butt.....with a bloomin' onion. |

I don't want to just say beaches, cause I've been to a couple that were ok. Those two had no sand. I hate sand. Hate. It grosses me out. Also, swimming. To be fair if I could do more than splash and choke as I sank I might like it, but as it stands... no. Sports. |

Popular music other than country music - can't stand 99% of it. Most TV programming - entertainment television is generally too vapid for me The Simpsons South Park Family Guy - Range from dislike to loathe Internet memes - most of them are really not funny |

Computer non-MMO gaming - I really cannot fathom why people want to endure the hassle of upgrading a PC, plus crashes, compatibility, etc etc... It's just not my thing. My PC is for homework, communication, and MMOs. Salad - Lettuce makes me vomit. Seriously. Daylight - It blinds me and makes me squint. It is unpleasant. The latest popular "adult" cartoon of the month - It's usually a series of crude jokes that tries to have some political message, in my experience. |

Beer: I just don't like it. it' not that I haven't had the opportunity to try 'good' beer, it's not that I have an undeveloped palate, and it's not like I avoid other bitter fermented flavours... I just don't care for beer. I don't like fizz and I don't like the acrid drying taste of hops. Carbonated Beverages: I'll admit that every few months I have a Coca Cola. I get a ton of ice and let it sit for a while so it's watered down and flat. Delicious! Movies: Watching movement on a screen makes me feel ill. The bigger the screen is the worse it affects me. And I can read a book faster than I can watch the movie, so why bother? 'Getting my hair done': Girls do this to impress guys, right? Don't most guys prefer long, loose, soft hair they can touch? So why would I spend time and money sculpting it? |
