Yes I can...

I am back into the world of the employed. Been at home with my son since March reexamining my life, career, and myself.

I have decided to do what I have to do for my family. I may not love the line of work, or my day to day job, but what matters is that I help Oonagh in making a good life for our little peanut and any future peanutlings. (Though I may have to change his nickname to walnut after last night's trip to the Emergency Room.)

Anyway, I am back to work full time come Monday and I think I may be excited about going to work for the first time in a long time.

Now to start getting the house all pretty-fied so that we may put it up for sale and get moved.

YAY me!

And life is just full of it's little twists...

Turns out that I have to work one weekend upcoming to help with the migration from one building to another as I was aware...

The weekend in question is the weekend containing the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert, which I have had tickets to for many months. Best tickets we have yet gotten for it, too. Center Stage section, fourth row back.

Damn.

Anyone in the Philly area want to go on a date with my wife to see TSO on Saturday November 20th @ 3:00 PM? Probably asking $75 for the ticket.

PM me if interested. Maybe we can work something out.

Damn again. :(

Congrats, man. Sounds like a good series of decisions you've made. Sorry to hear about the concert, though.

Congratulations, and enjoy the concert!

Are you moving out of the Philadelphia area?

I was passing through PHL recently. Had I been in the area for a few weeks, I'd have popped up and back to squire such a lovely lady.

In short, "hubba hubba", Oonie. :)

Dang, and did you have Oonagh's permission before looking for a date for her? If you didn't, duck brother Foamy, I'm sure she's quite capable of finding her own date and may not care to be set up in this way.

That being said, if I were in the area I'd jump at the chance to go to the concert, both for the music and your lovely wife's company.

But I'm not. So bad, so sad.

So, on the first day at the new job, I talked with my new manager/boss type person about the upcoming weekend. I had a sense that I had a good rapport with him after the interview and in his greeting of me on the first day. I let him know of the circumstances and told him that I was in no way trying to bail out of the Saturday that I promised I would be working. He insisted to the contrary that I not miss the concert since I had plans so far in advance. He asked can I give him, say, 8-12 that day and I told him that wasn't a problem and I will be able to make the concert after all.

SWEET.

So far, new job is slow and boring. They are so busy planning on the upcoming move to the new building that I have barely been shown the ropes or given much access to anything. All I have done is image a couple of PCs, install a laptop and docking station for another contractor who started on the same day I did and install Roxio software on someone else's PC.

Can't complain too much, though I'd like to. :P

That's a great turn of events, Foamy. Sounds like the boss is empathetic, which is always a good thing.

Congrats!

I am lucky enough to enjoy my work. Of course I'd rather not work, but it's more than tolerable.

No fair, I say!!
