I would second the suggestion of Smokey Mtns. It is in the neighborhood of 6 to 7 hours from where you live, and has a lot of nice things to see. That is if you like outdoors, nature type things. Maybe a bed and breakfast, or a chalet if you look for one to rent. Otherwise they have some pretty nice hotels and such, too.

I really want to go back when I can financially afford it. I love the ski lift rides, the goofy golf, the candy shops, and all the nature things to see. If you go, plan out a nice trip and take your time. On the way up you can stop and see such things as Ruby Falls, Lookout Mtn, and pass thru Pigeon Forge and see Dollywood for giggles. After that, Gattlinburg, and maybe take a day and drive over to Cherokee, NC across the mountains.......lots of great things to stop along the way and see.

Yeah, we never had a honeymoon. Went home right after the wedding, barefoot and pregnant, with 3 cranky kids in tow. We all had tantrums and everyone went to bed....to SLEEP. Good times and noodle salad. Soooo....as you all know, (or should!), we've had one helluva year. We need a honeymoon. Some sort of small, romantic, getaway. Someplace where its not all college students and beer but someplace without kids either...this is for us. Don't want to bring our kids, and definitely don't want to stare at someone elses kids. Thinkin' maybe the first or second week of January...somewhere within 6 hours of Columbus, MS. Not really sure what to do or where to go, but do know that with only 4 days, we don't want to spend the whole time driving...hence the no more than 6 hours driving distance. Plus, kinda limited on fundage so the whole trip needs to be under a grand. Ideas? Suggestions?

New Orleans? Well before Mardi Gras, so it should be reasonable and not too crowded, have some Beignet. Bring layers, it may be chilly. Stone Mountain, GA? The carving of the Confederate heroes in the side of a mountain is pretty neat. Six Flags, in Marietta, GA? Roller Coasters and other thrills Savannah is pretty, but its 8 hours away Nashville, TN? - go visit FarSky and Pheona Pensacola, FL? See the Blue Angels, spend some time on the beach? Any of those sound good?

And their is the plantation, you can ride the "duck", watch the laser-light fireworks show, visit the "village" where they make candy, candles, glass etc... by hand, the "4D" theater and... Hatteras Village, NC. It is the last tip of the Outer Banks. Super quiet, gorgeous beaches. You can watch the sunrise over the ocean and set over the ocean (soundside) and it's so narrow you can do it from the comfort of your rental home/hotel room.

We drove up north to St. Augustine. Nice place. They have a bunch of B&B's right along the beach. There's a lot of interesting history (being the oldest city in the US and all), and it's a pretty romantic setting. We got a second-story room in an old southern mansion and watched the sun come up from the balcony. Plus you have probably your only shot at getting Minorcan cuisine. Only downside though is it's a 9 hour drive. Micheal mentioned Savannah, that's a great city too. Would be my second choice, awesome historic downtown and lots of parks.

I rented a cabin in the Colorado mountains for a week. Absolutely no regrets about it.

Smoky Mountains- the park is quite nice, some good cabins, etc. Might even get some light snow at that time of year- cozy cabin, nice hiking, etc. It might be a bit over 6 hours, but it's not bad.

Bar Harbor, Maine. Unbeatable. Fantastic food, beautiful scenery, and best of all... Whale watching! I took my wife there after I got home from the sandbox. We hadn't had a honeymoon yet and we'd waited 4 years for it. It was awesome. I strongly suggest the Jack Russell Brewpub for dinners, and the the Bar Harbor Inn for accommadations. Only problem is right now is not the ideal time of year for it. In fact, we plan on going back so if you want to meet up with us one of these years, we'd be happy to. We have a 17-year-old so we can stick the kids with her while the 4 of us go party!

I haven't been since high school....I would love to go back.
