I want to buy some Christmas music to listen to, I was wondering what favorite artists that you all might recommend. I have been listening to TSO and Celtic Thunder and Gregorian chants. Still not sure which to pick.

What are your favorites?

TSO is good but in general...

I hate Christmas music.

TSO is the only Christmas music I can tolerate.

Oonagh will turn on the local easy listening channel here in Philly and it is non-stop Christmas standards over and over and over and over and over again for about a month straight. I get so tired of hearing them so many times on the radio then repeatedly in the stores when X-mas shopping.

The old school songs are good. Bing Crosby and all those folks. Whitney Houston does a great version of "Do You Hear What I Hear". Country singer John Berry does a great version of "O Holy Night".

Manheim Steamroller has awesome Christmas collections... And if you like acapella music, Straight No Chaser has a few really nice Christmas albums.

No matter what seasonal music is playing in the house it's not Christmas until Slade - Merry Christmas Everybody is on.

Stan and Olaf's "Yust Go Nuts at Christmas" was a holiday staple in my family growing up.

Manheim Steamroller is excellent.

AC/DC - Mistress for Christmas?

I get really sick of christmas music really quickly. Enya's Irish Gaelic rendition of Silent Night, however, might be one of the most beautiful songs ever.

I've been trending towards some of the classics lately. Burl Ives, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, etc...

Merry Axemas &
Merry Axemas 2

Outside of those and TSO, I pretty much only like traditional Christmas music. The songs that were made famous more than 50 years ago.

We have a station here in Detroit that does the same damn thing...

Not a fan. I had Cthulhu-based and Tales from the Crypt-based holiday CDs that I enjoyed, but outside of that...not a whole lot. Oh! Weird Al's "The Night Santa Went Crazy" and "Christmas at Ground Zero" as well.

I like most classic Christmas hymns, but "Christmas songs" generally irritate the hell out of me. I don't really know why. *shrug*

Taly, thank you for that! It is a beautiful song!

Can't find your recommendation, Coro :)

I like Straight No Chaser's 12 days of christmas. Unfortunatly the original version has been pulled from YouTube.

It's available on iTunes and on their CD, TheRiov.

I've got both of their Christmas CDs, and I like them a lot.

Oh, gotcha. And you're certainly right on that one. The original was by far the best.

I love Christmas music and Christmas time! Best time of the year!

Here's what I have on my computer right now Kirra...

Alan Jackson - Honky Tonk Christmas
Nat King Cole - The Christmas Song (personal fave)
Frank Sinatra - The Christmas Collection
Braid Paisley - A Brad Paisley Christmas
Anne Murray - not sure of the title

Those are some of the complete albums. I have a bunch of random songs I really like. For example, Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLaughlin do a really cool song 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen'. My new favourite Christmas song though is one by Brad Paisley! It's called 'Penguin, James Penguin' and its really unique and very funny. If you want I can email it to you in our next photo exchange.

Yay Christmas!!!!

Enya could sing the phone book listings and it would be beautiful, but yes, that is one amazingly beautiful song.

Then again, pretty much everything sounds better in Irish Gaelic, its one of the most melodic languages on the planet.
