OK, haven't gotten through them all, but the first three are pretty cool. The McDonalds one is very interesting. |

The suicide and homicide rates graph was pretty interesting, to be honest. |

Apparently all of the "American's" live in the Southern states. And nothin' but Germans, Mexicans and Natives up here in Washington... Who knew? |

Oh come on, someone had to . . . |

Yeah, that's based on census data, so self-reporting. Not very rigorous, Midgen. I mean, in the context of the chart, the "American" answers are meaningless. |

When it says "american" couldn't that mean...native american? |
Author: | Kaffis Mark V [ Sat Dec 18, 2010 10:50 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
No, because Native American has its own color. |

I just think it's funny that the color on the evolution chart for chinese/japanese was yellow. |

I thought it was funny that Israel has the lowest suicide rate. And seriously, the USA is mostly Germans? |

LK, a blind 2nd grader doing paint-by-numbers would probably be more accurate making that graph. |

The self-reporting and "American" issues aside, that chart only shows the predominant ancestry per county. If I had a hypothetical county with 51% German ancestry and 49% Japanese, it would show as German. It's not saying anything more than that, which in turn means it's not saying much. If some county is split between 10% of 8 ancestries, 11% for one ancestry, 9% for all "other", that 11% would show even though there's very little real world accuracy to it. Still sort of interesting, though I'm still trying to wrap my head around "American". Also manage to end up in one of the few "other" counties in the nation... Poland reprasentin! |
