I'll start off. I'm counting stuff that my family owns.

Work laptop
My desktop
Ipod Touch
Cellphone
Laptop
Old desktop that doesn't boot
Old desktop
Old laptop
Old laptop
Desktop

Phone
Printer
Modem
Router
Laptop
Cell phone
Alarm Clock
Caller ID
LCD Display

Total: 24

I'm also VNCed into two Linux machines for work... but doesn't count I guess.

ok, since when are Alarm clocks computing devices? I'll give you the computers, the cellphones. MOST printers are not though some are, the router is barely one (in that it can do a limited set of calculations (OSPF type comes to mind) Caller ID-no. its a dummy display. CRT --no. its totally an analogue device

Because they have digital chips in them that compute things? The router has a freakin web server on it. The CRT display lets you set brightness and a bunch of other things.

digitial isnt a requirement for computing device-- but no calculations are done by a CRT display or the caller ID.

Do you want to count a slide rule or abacus as a computing device?

It has a lot to calculate to let you adjust different settings and display them. Do you think they just strung a couple resistors and capacitors together?

No. These can't digitally perform thousands of calculations per second.

But you're on a computer right now? I wasn't referring to a bedroom. room != bedroom.

Funny, I had a similar thought the other night when doing something between a number of computers.

How about "Internet-connected" devices, instead of "computing devices"? And I'm going to count the whole house:

Three laptops
Two desktops
Two cell phones
A Wii
One TV
Two blue-Ray players (but only one is hooked up to the Internet, but I end up using my TV for Netflix instead).

So, we have 10 Internet-connected devices in the house. That's kind of interesting, when you think about it.

Heh, kind of forgot about my router ...

If only there was some basic standards for determining if a particular device is a computer?
