We've discussed them quite a bit, posted them in the 'earbug' thread, created separate threads for individual performances and even have a thread for covers we'd like to see, but I don't believe this incarnation of the Glade has a thread devoted to cover songs we enjoy. To start it off - a pretty good cover of Rock the Casbah performed by Algerian singer Rachid Taha: Bohemian Rhapsody as covered by The Braids: and Hey Ya as covered by Matt Weddle: |

I'm saddened by the fact that I didn't know about this cover until about 15 minutes ago. Always loved the original, and this rendition is just really damn good. |

Wow, I never realized just how . . . what's the word? . . . receptive Johnny Cash was to modern music. |

Yes, Johnny Cash was a lot more than just an old country artist. Several of the artists he covered were awed and humbled by his interpretations of their work. To me that reflected very well on both the original artists and the Man in Black. |

Here is a cover that impressed me a great deal. Why? Because it's done by a pretty heavy band (some would classify as death metal, but I don't know if I'd go that far) and they were extremely conservative with the cover. No cookie monster vocals or death growls, etc. In fact, they do the original so much justice, that I'd go so far to say that I haven't heard of many covers sticking this true to the original outside of karaoke bars. If you listen to a few of their other songs, you'll see just how reigned-in they were on this one. |

I think we're missing an opportunity for a competition here. And I should probably stop here, because I've gone straight down a rathole. But what the hell. And now I'm done. |

CD project doing nothing but paying tribute to the works of others with his own interpretations. Quite excellent listening, that I would argue transcends genre. |

Never saw the Neil Diamond Hannukah cover. That's pretty cool. Forgot about UB40. What's interesting about that one is, that it's a cover of a cover. UB40 never knew about Neil Diamond's version until much later. |

They would have at least known that Neil Diamond was the songwriter. Even if they had not heard the Neil Diamond version, as soon as they saw his name as the songwriter, I feel sure they would have at least said amongst themselves "Hey, I wonder if he's recorded it himself". It would be kind of like if you heard the Stones perform "Like a Rolling Stone", and then went to cover that, and then saw Bob Dylan as the songwriter. |

Can we all at least agree that the members of Limp Bizkit should be shot for their horrible cover of "Behind Blue Eyes"? |
