I hope it works out. It would be incredible to see a live one.

I think we should round up a posse of environmentalists to lynch these guys for adding species to the endangered species list...

Russia just wants to get in on the safari and ivory poaching trades.

Exactly why a majority of the huge creatures that once strode in large herds across Eurasia and North America died out towards the end of the last Ice Age has generated fiery debate.

Some experts hold that mammoths were hunted to extinction by the species that was to become the planet's dominant predator -- humans.

Others argue that climate change was more to blame, leaving a species adapted for frozen climes ill-equipped to cope with a warming world.

Well, damn. Either PETA or the IPCC will have a field day over this. ;)

This is just a precursor to the awesome weaponization of wooly mammoths. We'll be sending them to the middle east in no time to wreak havoc.

Hah as far as that goes, Wakayama? Iritani? Weyland-Yutani... biological work on obscure species? Talk about life imitating art.

Weaponization, hehehe. We'll call it "Project Hannibal."

Is anyone else convinced that the Japanese are interested only because they want to eat a mammoth?

Don't they have sci fi in Japan? There's no way this can end well!

Heh. Picturing neanderthal politicians bonking each other over the head debating this issue.

Cool story. On the other hand, elephant rape.

The embryo will then be inserted into an elephant's uterus in the hope that the animal will eventually give birth to a baby mammoth.

Yeah, according to his website, he moved to North Carolina with his family, where he teaches acting, etc. Probably kind of hard to stay in the Hollywood loop out there, especially at his age.

Yeah, his website just says "a small town near the Atlantic Ocean," but Wikipedia says

Quote:
He lives with his wife and son in Wilmington, North Carolina and teaches acting for the camera in the Film Studies Department at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Sounds like a nice life, yes.
