http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/1 ... 09878.html Quote: LOS ANGELES, Jan 16 (Reuters) - Starbucks Corp (SBUX.O) will roll out its biggest drink size yet -- the 31-ounce "Trenta" -- in all of its U.S. coffee shops by May 3, the company said on Sunday. The new size will be available only for iced coffee, iced tea and iced tea lemonade drinks in the United States. The Trenta is 7 ounces larger than Starbucks' "Venti" cup for iced drinks, which currently is its largest size on offer. Drinks in the Trenta size will cost 50 cents more than similar Venti-sized iced drinks, the company said. Seattle-based Starbucks tested the new size in several U.S. markets last year, saying it was responding to customer demand for larger cold beverages. The Trenta size will debut in 14 states, including Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Texas, Hawaii and Arizona, on Jan. 18 and in California on Feb. 1. The world's biggest coffee chain said unsweetened drinks in the new size will have fewer than 90 calories and that sweetened versions will have less than 230 calories. McDonald's Corp (MCD.N), the world's biggest fast-food restaurant chain, has taken direct aim at Starbucks with frappes, fruit smoothies and espresso drinks such as lattes and cappuccino. It also has lured customers by selling 32-ounce (946.4 ml) sweet tea drinks for $1 each. U.S. convenience stores, which have been taking on restaurant chains with an expanded selection of low-cost, quick-serve fare, for years have sold fountain drinks in large sizes, including 32 ounces and 64 ounces (1.9 L). |

Who the hell wants bad, over brewed coffee made from the rejected, burnt beans that weren't good enough for Great Value pre-ground coffee at Wal-Mart? |

Hehe, our local coffee shop chains have had 32 oz iced coffee for a couple of years now. It's great, I get them for 1.80 on refills because the coffee shop is built into the ground floor of the building where I work... And I'm a regular customer. That, and the coffee is really good, in true Louisiana style. |

There coffee is awful. That said, I drink it all the time, because... it's everywhere. |

I don't drink it if I have a choice, but they're also one of the only coffee shops consistently found along interstates for those cross country drives. And they're pretty cheap, as things go. |

I actually had a cup the other day, only because I had bought a bag of whole bean coffee, and i could bring in the empty bag for a free cup. I was actually surprised it wasn't horribly burnt and bitter, turns out it was their ... ack, can't remember the name. Wasn't Pike Place, though. I like your graphic, Shel. |

I brought a single-serve french press and small airtight canister to work so I wouldn't have to choose between Starbuck's and Dunkin' Donuts coffee. Aethien wrote: I like your graphic, Shel. Heh, thanks. How'd you know I was about to post here?

Khross wrote: shuyung wrote: Beverages in order of related snobbery: It was in need of a correction.---> Whiskey Wine Coffee Everything else Actually, it's probably anything that was never popular in a varietal form before - single-malt scotch, estate coffees, microbrews - that has suddenly been latched onto and promoted for marketing purposes. I personally think wine snobs are the worst. |

It certainly seems like you meet wine snobs much more frequently, at least. |
