To our forum gardeners... if you grow plants inside, or in a screened enclosure, how do you get them to pollenate?

I picked up a cheapo electric toothbrush last year, because I dunno... I figured it would be like a bee buzzing around. It works okay, but it is a little strong and I end up losing perfectly good pollen to the air or ground. I'm at about an average 25% success rate depending on the plant (some better, some worse).

I'm moving a lot of the garden outside this year, but I still plan to grow things on the porch too.

Any alternative ideas?

I know with indoor tomatoes that the plants are self fertile so just shake the plant every few days or use a small paintbrush and brush pollen on the inside of the other blossoms of the plant. This can be done with other plants as well not just Tomatoes.

Make sure you wear a bee costume when you do it, or the plants get confused.

I haven't done it but I hear an ear/medical swab works just fine. But either way don't sweat it, much like sperm you don't need ALL the pollen to transfer for pollination to occur.
