...I so don't get it. Really.
I took my stepdaughter to a place to rent her pageant dress in January and she picked the (what I thought) was a beautiful dress but horrible colors and pattern...it was like rainbow stripes on a poofy cinderella dress...but she won 1st runner up in that dress.
I see young people in things that I just do not understand when just 4 years ago I was a 20-something and there wasn't a fashion statement that I at least didn't know *something* about.
I went to the website boutiques.com which seemed cool in that you picked all your likes and dislikes and they would tailor an online "boutique" just for you. During the quiz part and even after the results I'm still all, like, "huh??"

I don't get fashion at all. I'm a traitor to my gender.

These were on my results page after my quiz as something that I might like. Seriously. Looks like someone stepped in a poodle.

I like shirts that have arm and head holes.

Fashion changes every decade, year, season. What's considered 'in' this season, will be 'out' the next season, but might be 'in' again the season after that.

I stopped chasing long ago and go with timeless colours like black, white or beige. I also go for timeless cuts like the a-line skirt or something figure hugging. (curves are never 'out')

If you wear it like you mean it, you might just start a new trend.

Fashion changes constantly to keep the fashionistas employed. I mean what would it be like if everyone wore jeans and t-shirts forever? Comfortable, well-fitting, a style most people can make look reasonable on themself, even us fatties.

A little boring after a while, but hey.

Lydiaa, you would look great in most anything, but pics please.

Thank you for your faith in my body type, but alas that’s not always the case. I don’t have the upper body assets to carry off many of the tops I’d like to. Low cuts don’t work well for me even though I love the look, and bare backs are always out cause I need support in the front only achievable by a proper push up. I also have to avoid boob tube or strapless types of dresses for that same reason.

I don’t have the body to carry boy cuts that Sas wears so well because my shoulders are already too broad for a girl, and I could never wear tights as my lower legs are too long and thus makes my leg look really weird. I could never find the boots I want for that same reason, and I have been hunting for almost 3 years for a pair of thigh high boots that would actually fit me.

I’m actually very boring on normal days where I don’t go out, I’ll post some pics of my ‘corporate uniform’ when I get around to it hehe =P

Personally I think LK would look hot in a lace corporate suit.

Funny you should say that since I have pretty broad shoulder too, actually i'm trying to think what pics I posted of anything boy cut even, not to say I don't wear them, but the only thing that comes to mind I guess is my drag outfit.

Oh, and as big of a fan of boots as I am I also find those boots hideous. In general I wear the fashion styles I like and look good on me, to hell with what people say is the fashion trend, I also don't believe in the whole seasonal color thing too, I wear things in the spring that are considered "fall colors" and things in the fall that are more "spring colors", I don't care, it looks good, that's what matters.

I totally agree...fashion is not for me. I would look ridiculous in those boots. I'm not much of a high heel girl either. I like boots, but the heel has to be reasonable. I have a pair of thigh high suede boots that I absolutely love! They are comfy and look dressy. I can wear them with skinny jeans or with a skirt. I still wish I was taller, that would open up so many more things to wear. I can shop in the kids section for jeans :(. Cheaper..but not real ego boosting

Oh, right ...

I should mention I have a stock answer for any question a woman could possibly ask me that involves the word shopping ...

In fact, it doesn't even have to be a question. If a woman says "shopping" in a sentence directed at me ... I have a default response.

Wanna know what it is?

Absolutely :). I promise I won't ask if my butt looks fat in this too :p

That.

Personally I hate being tall, especially since I do like to wear heels, 5'4"-5'5" would be nice, being 5'8" kind of sucks imo, maybe if I was a model it would be ok, but i'm not.

You look great, Sas :). Trade a couple inches with me...I'm 5'2". Getting carded at the grocery store at 28 is embarassing.

We women are never happy with what we got lol

No.

"You wanna go shopping with me?"

No.

"I'm going shopping with the girls ..."

No.

"I want to go bathing suit shopping."

No.

"I need go shopping for some girl stuff."

No.

Just say No to Women and Shopping.

I should start an national ad campaign on this matter ...

More men would be happier.

Those don't phase me. I can sit and wait while she shops, and I know we'll end up going somewhere fun too and probably go eat.

What gets me is "We need to get you new clothes/shoes". Arrgggggggggghhh.

I've been told that I shop like a man.

I figure out what I need, swoop in, and leave.

I wear simple, classic clothes, or blue jeans/shorts and t-shirts. I own very few pairs of shoes, and they must be comfortable.

Those boots look silly and uncomfortable.

Thanks, but I still wish I was shorter, lol! actually I don't mind 5'8" when i'm wearing flats, just unless i'm doing a lot of walking I would rather wear heels but then I feel too tall. Plus the other downside to being tall......the taller you are the bigger your feet are, wear size 11's suck, unless you wear size 11's and are someone rich like Paris Hilton or Uma Thurman it's a pain in the *** to find shoes in your size that you like that aren't expensive.

What is there to card for at a grocery store??? Or do you they sell alcohol at grocery stores where you live? In which case I still get carded at 33 most of the time for alcohol.

And yes, so true

I try to get better at this method...when I actually "shop" around and look at things and try them on I wind up frustrated and confused. I like new clothes but I hate having to pick them out.
That's why the idea of a personal shopping sort of website appealed to me, but what they picked does not.

Kirra, I'm 5'4" and I would so totally trade a couple inches in height in order to have small, pretty feet. Being a size 9 is no fun. All the sexy feet and shoes are a size 7....and usually those are found on women who are short.

What are you talking about? 5'4" is short.
